They should give Israel back to the Palestinians and move all the Jews to Texas and let them deal with the Mexicans instead, since they've got lots of experience with this kind of thing. That way you'd kill two birds with one stone.

Anyway, I don't think that the fence is a bad idea, I just think that the government will fuck it up, just like everything else they touch. It does strike me funny that they'll move forward on a project like this, but they won't do shit about removing the incentives that draw many illegals here. I don't see any congresspukes trying to enact legislation to oh say, make companies pay wages that people can actually live on. Or, perhaps hammering the fuck out of companies that hire illegals.

politicians are unwilling to do anything about them, as they are vital to our economy (and vital to business owners who make large donations). However, no one will ever have the balls to say this, as it is a very unpopular thing to say, particularly for a republican, so nothing will be done, and the current situation will continue untill something drastic happens.

What I'm tired of is how the entire god damn world looks at the US like the world's largest public park and that we should just give them a life because we owe them something. Forgot you were Aussie. I guess you will have to take my word for it. I used to work for my dad in construction and sometimes we would be on a job with a mexican crew. They would litterally run at full speed across the roof while firing their nail guns to secure either plywood or shingles.

"need" is a bit much. i don't mind if an illegal brings something to the community then becomes a citizen later, but to come here, work tax-free and not learn a good bit of English is ridiculous.

Many of them do pay payroll taxes, at least in the restaurant biz. They don't have a choice. Legal SSN or not, the money still goes to the Feds, and if they are bogus IDs, the government keeps the money.
I absolutely fucking despise immigrants refusing to learn the language after living here for years, however.

presuming this fence is built on American soil, it'll be nowhere near as evil as the Israeli fence.
