or is it only worth going with higher resolutions?
(i'm looking for a projector of moderate to high performance...nothing extraordinary...but good enough to show movies on with a crowd of folks who aren't completely adamant about hi-def).
This is going in a basement game/pool table room at my brother's. He's looking to spend only about 500-600 bucks on the projector and saw this one:

for about 500 bucks brand new in teh box sealed.
My take is that the quality would be fine for its intended use and audience....agree?

that was yours/their spending limit? $500?

not the absolute limit, he was looking to spend between 500 and 600 and found that sharp one online for 550ish. Before he was going to order it he just wanted to see if i could look into whether or not it would suit his purposes. he's not looking to outfit this room with top of the line a/v equipment...just a projector to put on the wall (or a screen eventually).

why a front projector though? for that little bit of cash, i'd put it towards a rear projector. much better picture/features for the dollar, although it sounds like space is an issue.
