An email exchange with an idiot

One of the neocon, Ann Coulter-loving dittoheads I work with sent out this link for a book, written by retarded Bush meatpuppet Richard Miniter:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/089526 ... s&v=glance

This spawned a discussion about Miniter's claim that 1.77 metric tons of enriched uranium had been removed from Iraq, BUT THE LIBERAL MEDIA WASN'T REPORTING IT! So, he sends me this:
http://www.usembassy-dhaka.org/state/St ... 08_04.html

Note that it's from the US EMBASSY IN BANGLADESH. WTF?!?!

So, I send him this:
"WTF? Odd source, isn't it? Found any corroborating coverage anywhere? I'm not one to disdain a source just because it's not a major news outlet, but for something like this I want independent(meaning non-governmental) confirmation."

To which he responds(this is fucking great):
"When Osama shows up with a couple of bio tipped rockets , or better yet a nuke or two, maybe you'll be singing a different tune."

And I fire back:
"Typical Republican War party fear-mongering.
OMGWTF! TEH TURRISTS AER COMING! THEY HAEV NOOKULAR WEPINS AND WEPINS OF ASS DESTRUCSHIN!! BELIEVE EVERYTHING WE TELL YOU OR YUO AER UNPATRIOTIC AND GAY!!!!
And if Osama has a nuke, he wouldn't have gotten it from Iraq, he would have gotten it from one of the former Soviet republics."

You see the caliber of fucking moron I have to endure on a daily basis?

I told you along time ago to load your M4 and get to work. Therefore your complaints are pitiful.

You know what must be done. Find a tall tower and get to it.

STOP SPEWING LIBERAL MEDIA LIES!!!

The funny thing is, as this guy was telling me of this load of WMD shit he'd swallowed I asked him why if it was so, none of the conservative pro-Bush talk shows, radio hosts, columnists, Bush, Cheney, etc., had even mentioned it. The glazed look in his eyes and the clanking of rusty gears in his skull was priceless. His reply? "I wonder if it's medical uranium?"

FUCKING LOLLERCAUST!!!!

And you can't grasp the fact that everyone thinks you're a dipshit. Shocking.

The greatest trick the Republicans ever pulled was to convince the American people that the media has a liberal bias instead of a conservative one.

I think the larger issue is that of people being ignorant to the fact that a HUGE percentage of the media is controlled by a very small number of big businesses.

chomsky once made the interesting point that the mainstream media, to function properly as a source of propaganda, *ought* to have a liberal bias, since - as he argued - a liberal POV sets the 'limit' on permissable mainstream discourse, sort of 'thus far and no further', hence keeping 'debate' within the narrow confines where it protects power and privilege

there's something to this. there are eerie parallels between the way the 'liberal' press in the US are talking about iraq now and the way the same section of the press talked about vietnam in the late 60s. in both cases there's talk of a 'costly mistake' (the limit of accceptable opinion) rather than aggression or criminaliy (outside the limit of acceptable opinion)

Interesting for sure. I have yet to read anything by this Chomsky fellow....

From what I've heard, Manufacturing Consent is the place to start if you want to get your Chomsky on. I have two of his books on Central America and JFK sitting on my desk, no damn time to read them.

I shall try and remember that ... heh, i almost got one of his books last saturday whilst i was in a bookstore hunting for a new book, but at the last moment i went for John Keegans take on the use of intelligence in the history of warfare instead (which was a pretty good read).
