Do we know exactly how these things work and why they work or is there still anything yet unknown about magnets or magnitism in general. If that's the right word for it :icon26:

Well I'm actualy curious about the relation between gravity and magnets. got any input or are you just going to do the same thing you do in every thread I've posted in since 1999.

That is something which has always intrigued me but I never really took the time to do a research on it. How do we make one? What type of material? Is there a way to make one any stronger from another one of the same size/mass?

Yes pete, they can. I'm more curious to know if we know everything there is to know about the way they function or if there's still some things that are a puzzle. I figure one of the info gurus probably know.

No. I don't think the moon has a magnetic core such as the earth does.

Seriously though, there's ton of information explaining magnets down to the atomic level. Just search it up.
edit: If I remember correctly, I think it has something to do with the electron spins in magnetic materials, but I honestly could be pulling that out of nowhere..

May be but could a real good compass react to aim to the earth then?

I Have a lot of studying to do...ever since I am here… Electromagnetism and kinematics. Thermodynamics, Learning about the id and the strings thing, just to name a few.

Depends on what you want to get into further down the line. Different fields of science treat thermodynamics differently.

Men, I am 48. I know, while at Uni a girl/woman was 60some next to me studiyng Psychology. I am retired for nearly 10Y now and I just want to learn more. I wish I had all of this technologies when I was younger. What a great tool we have today.
