A young girl nicknamed "Snowly" died last month after playing the online game "World of Warcraft" for several continuous days during the national day holiday. Snowly's friends, who share the same game community, say that Snowly was a very diligent member and a key official of their community, who was always connected to the Internet.

Meanwhile 7 major domestic game makers have agreed to install an anti-obsession system on eleven online game products. The system entered a trial period on October 20.

Anti-obsession system, holy shit. :olo:

How bad would a loser feel if their own computer told them they were spending too much time playing games, and cut them off? :olo: :olo: :olo:

I guess there aren't too many details out there but I wonder if she worked at a Chinese MMORPG farm ("virtual sweatshop") working for a couple of cents.

If she was just playing for the hell of it, then thats pretty pathetic. If she was playing to scrap together a few cents or something thats pretty sad :(

Black and White did something similar.... although that's probably hubris as after a couple of levels I didn't need to be told to stop playing

HOLY FUCK MAN, 47 HOURS OF WOW THIS WEEK ALONE? WTF, WOULDNT A BIT MORE OF THAT TIME BE BETTER INVESTED IN TWEAKING YOUR REAL LIFE A LITTLE MORESO THAN A FUCKING BLOB OF INSIGNIFICANT PIXELS FOR WHICH YOU'RE BEING CHARGED $15 A MONTH TO FOLLOW AROUND LIKE A JACKASS BEHIND A CARROT DANGLING FROM A STICK?

It's already been in place on the Vortex mod for Quake 2 :olo:. After 6 hours, you can no longer play your character anymore, so you either switch characters or gtfo. Sadly, there are a couple players who have in the past actually met this 6 hour time limit every day. Every day Co would play till his character limit, then get on another. Last I heard, he broke his character by reaching the maximum level of something like 37 while most people were at most about level 20.
