I stood and watched a demo DVD playing on a 50" samsung HD screen in a shop a few weeks ago and didn't really get it. It looked nice but nothing special. Until I stood further away and then it looked impressive. Today though I watched a demo on another samsung HD, smaller screen and then I realised, it's really fucking good. Incredibly sharp detail. Are you impressed by HD tv?

DVD is shit compared to HDTV. When I first saw a HDTV program showing a first-person view from an airplane flying above a landscape, at a store three years ago, I was totally blown away.

when there is good hdtv programming, it is fantastic. i'm watching some nature show in hdtv right now on the organisms that come out at night in the great barrier reef. it's amazing.
Watching a good tv show in hd at 16:9 with digtal surround is a whole different experience than just watching it standard.

i have to agree. HD is cool, but i'm going to miss the look of film sometime before i'm six feet under.
in other words, good for everything else but movies.

I watch almost everything i do watch in hd now, admittedly it's scaled down from 720p (down to 528p as it's downloaded), but it's still extremely impressive.
I'm buzzed waiting for Sky HD when it launches in Jan, then hopefully I can test the true potential of my TV.

Not many theaters have digital screens, if your not talking about digital screens, then your smoking crack, and even then the film needs to be shot digitally as well.

Don't think I've ever seen a movie without editing.
