I have a dangerous job if that's what you mean. Not threatened by people but by equipment.

Yeah same. Molten metal is no fucking joke.
I'm done working now though. Most dangerous thing to me this year is reheated takeout (Student YAY).

I worked at a barge plant once. That's the last dangerous job I will ever have if I have my way.

When you get some of those kids who are really disturbed and have absolutely no control of themselvse, you find yourself wondering if they are going to come back one day and shoot you for getting them in trouble..

Hmm... at my old job we had to keep an eye out for PETA, although I never met any of them. My new workplace is much more actively threatened/targeted by PETA, the Earth Liberation Front, and the Animal Liberation Front, but security is tighter so I'm not really in any danger (although ELF did set fire to one of the genetics labs a few years ago).
Most threats to my well-being come in the form of the equipment and materials I work with/around: radioactive isotopes, human HIV strains, mitogens and mutagens such as ConA and ethidium bromide, arsenic and other heavy metals, azides, live cancer cultures, hypodermics filled with untested drugs, etc...
It's nothing abnormal, though, so a little common sense will keep you from trouble. At least I'm not exposed to nosocomial diseases like the docs are...

Jesus, what happened to just throwing eggs at a some teacher's car (not that I think thats a smart thing to do, but its sure as hell better than shooting someone).

I use to work in a building full of real estate company. Every so often some one would come in irate. Yelling threatening demanding that some thing would be fixed. Almost always they were a drunk. They hadn't bothered to properly notify what ever company they were renting from.
Almost always they were too bizzy yelling, usually at the wrong company, to tell any one what was wrong, their address, and unit number.
The owner of the company I worked for would always confront the crazies. Even though it wasn't his company they were yelling at. He'd yell back at them; that this was a place of bissness. That it was inappropriate to come into one screaming. They'd start screaming at him, threatening to hit him. Some times saying they'd burn down the building or had a gun in their car.
He'd just step up, inviting them to do what ever it was. And yell at me or who ever pore soul was around to dial the police.
Luckily he was more crazy then the people coming in yelling. They at least had anuff common sense to walk away. Wether it was because of the police, or because my boss looked like he wanted a chance to beat them up.
The place was always getting broken into.
--
The ironic thing. IF they had come n and said they had a problem politely. THey would have been given the form, spent less time filling it out, then they had taken yelling, and got what ever it is fixed. A posed to leaving with out any thing being resolved.

Far as I know this is statisticaly the safest time in history to live in america. Crime rates have decreasedconstantly over the last 20+ years. Shooting at school isn't new. Shootings at schools in 'middle class' is.
