just wondered - most servers seem empty most of the time it seems to me - or is the in game browser just lying?

I don't play much at all.

I want to play a lot but I am having more and more trouble finding populated servers as well, but the crap server browser has a lot to do with that I think.
Most filled servers are tournament gametype servers, and I hate waiting 10 minutes for a round of a tourney to end as well

I play once in a while.. then get fed up with FFA and quit..

i have it, and ive been trying it, but its just not for me as it is.

a patch most likely change the reasons why its not for me.

I've been having a tough time finding FFA servers which aren't packed or incredibly high ping.

I'm having a really hard time finding decent CTF servers. Either they're empty or they're loaded with players and lag like crazy.

Meh, the ingame browser is pretty shit tbh. Have you tried Q4 Echelon? It's pretty good. Sorts all players online alphabetically in a list on one screen, and all servers, game types and pings on another. Whole interface is fairly close to ASE's. I have more success finding activity on low ping servers with echelon than the ingame browser. Kquery is good too.

Not playing it much but waiting on a new gfx card which should come come tomorrow and smooth out my game. At the moment playing online's been a nightmare because my system craps out when I hit any remotely detailed area even at the lowest settings.

Yep, pretty much the same here too.

Nope, no fun at all. It's annoying because there are some cocky players in DM who are winning mostly because they get a steady 60fps. I know that if it were Q3 I would be winning or at least, doing a lot better simply because of framerate and visibility. When it goes down to 18fps in detailed areas we're on a hiding to nothing.

i havn't enven bothered to buy it yet.
i figure until i can afford to upgrade the 9800 its pointless to tease myself.

Yeah exactly, I faired okay in the FFAs I played on the first day but same as you I'd have been wasting most of the guys I played against with a decent framerate instead of coming 2nd and third, playing someone who only has me to concentrate on leaves me without a chance.

after playing some q3/warsow, q4 is too slow and doom3ish

Eh I can almost always find a server with sub 60 ping with a few bodies on it for DM/Tourney.

i would like a sports motif instead of the current one.

q4 feels like a 1990's game to me imo

I dont have q4 atm, and seeing my old q3 budday make this statement, I wonder if I should even spend the $$$.

the movement is a bit different than q3. however after playing awhile it is just as fast once you get the movement down.

actually it is faster than vq3. there are moves you can do in q4 that cannot be done in q3.

hopefully it will get patched up and modded asap.

So has anyone mastered the crouch slide up to YA on the edge yet?

yea sometimes i got to give my haed a shake, it just seems harsh to me right now.

i going to keep trying q4 and try and have an open mind with it.
