yeah, i read about some guy using what they called the Thigpen rotary woofer a couple of months back. they had it stashed in some dude's attic and using what seems like basically a free air enclosure. it almost seemed like snake oil, but it seems to work.

thanks for the link i'd forgotten about it.

No, but I imagine the 'punch' would depend on the pressure difference.

no punch at that level. it's more for visuals than feeling anything. pretty cool to see a speaker move that slow. you just don't push enough air at 1hz to notice anything.
