So i got Guild Wars

What a great game - who here plays? I know some of you do
I really like the whole skillsystem thing they've done... making it possible to switch all your attributes and skills at any time should keep things interesting for quite a while. Also the whole look and feel of the game is most excellent & highly addictive. And there's no monthly fee of course, that is also very important
Also a few things i do not like:
- henchmen (encourages soloing, which is not nearly as much fun as getting a decent team together. Unfortunately hardly anyone seems to realize that)
- team size cap (havent found out yet whether this is just the level i'm at or whatever, but it seems ridiculously low)
- low level cap (i sort of understand with the skillsystem and all, but sheesh, only lvl 20?)
- Items and crafting (meh - not my thing)
- Why can i not see where we are heading if we're not doing my mission? (argh frustration)
Maybe CoH spoiled me a little.

Your not playing a MMO.. thats why CoH seems to of spoiled you..

I know, i know.
But there's no monthly fee!
PS note how most of my gripes are regarding gameplay, not the MMO part. I actually think they did that pretty well - there's still a sense of playing with hundreds of people, even when you're actually not.

i play. although i havent played for quite some time
Emka Jay.
your gripes:
henchmen dont encourage soloing, they suck. just ask for someone to join you and huzzah there you go. its easy to get a prty going
team size cap: is per chapter. youre most likely presearing which means you cant have more than 1 partymember. this grows over time though - its to balance out the PVE.
leveling works different than in other games, lvl 20 is good enough and takes you quite a while to get there. its DnD style.
items crafting.. well if you don tlike it, dont do it. i hardly ever do eitther - its not a must like in diablo2.
cant see where youre going? you mean if you dont have the quest? cause if yo do have the quest but its not your main you just have to activiate it. also, waypoints only show if the goal is 2 or less maps away.

Yeah, this is definitely not an MMO. The only time you're with a large amount of other guys is when you're in a city -- that's it. The game isn't structured to be a big huge world to explore and run into random people -- it's built mainly as a competition game, actually.
There is definitely a huge, huge backstory and tons of missions and question, but that is all icing on the cake, on top of the game's true purpose -- guild vs guild action.
By the way, I have an uber, uber 20 w/n, but I recently switched to w/m to test out an amazing solo farming method. I'm rarely on these days because I'm really busy with school, work, and friends, but if I'm on, I'm Cloud Blackthorne.

yeah soapboy, I have to agree with MKJ there. You can't let a Guild Wars thread go without talking shit about how it's not an MMO.

Hey its Q3W, Where the members jump on another members case whenever possible, Even if its not a valid reason, The flame alone helps their Q3W e-peen continue to grow.

As MKJ said, the unofficial q3w guild members are registered on my forum.
http://www.fender.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=5
We'll send you guys an invite. Most everyone is still doing PvE, but I'm itching to try some more advanced PvP and GvG.
edit: Also, henchmen are better than about 90% of players. When guildmates aren't on, I'd rather use henchies than random idiots in PUGs. At least the henchies follow instructions.

i personally keep a friendslist of people who know how to play & party properly. then when i need someone i'll just page someone from my list.
keeps the retards out of my party
