Does iTunes work on other mp3 players though? My guess, no.

For podcasting, is there no comparable program that would work for non-ipod mp3 players?

iTunes saves them as mp3s so you can just drop them on.

not that i've run across man. you can do what Pho suggested since podcasts are downloaded as .mp3's and just drag and drop them from the directory to your DAP.

I could, but iTunes seems to make it more convenient.

sure it does, but you're only talking about another step or two, tops. then again, you could always spring for a 5G iPod.

Is this what I'm looking for?

yeah i've used that. but it doesn't transfer files to an .mp3 player. it's just not as easy to browse for podcasts as iTunes, but it does work.

6.1.2 Use iPodder to download podcasts to play on your non-iPod Mp3 player

If you have a portable MP3 player other than an iPod, you can still use iPodder to put podcasts on your player. Once you have your folder of iPodder downloads, you can drag and drop them into your MP3 player in whatever way you usually add audio to your portable player. If you use a jukebox program to manage the music on your portable player, many have options like the one in iTunes where you tell the jukebox program to add or watch a certain folder, and it will add anything new in that folder to your MP3 player. If you tell your jukebox program to watch the directory iPodder puts new podcasts in, it should give you access to the podcasts (To find out what folder iPodder is putting downloaded podcasts in, see 4.3.1.4).

right, but IT doesn't toss it straight to your DAP. it works in conjunction with another program. my previous DAP didn't have a "jukebox" proggy to go with it; it just showed up as a removable drive.

Unfortunate.
