i hear its not as gay as ase and has q4 support...worth the download? story?...
my thoughts exactly.Foo wrote:BTW xfire is shit because it doesn't interact with any other chat clients. If there was a plugin for xfire on Miranda, Trillian or GAIM, I'd be a lot less hostile towards the idea.
There is a gaim plugin, you just have to not be a faggot to find it..Foo wrote:BTW xfire is shit because it doesn't interact with any other chat clients. If there was a plugin for xfire on Miranda, Trillian or GAIM, I'd be a lot less hostile towards the idea.
Everyone i talk to online, uses xfire anymore.. hell even people who dont game, use it.. its just a BETTER messager than anything else.. O_oFoo wrote:Point taken on the GAIM plugin plus sodomy.
As for 'stuck on AIM and Yahoo', you miss the point. Having to load multiple chat clients to cater for everyone you know is fucking stupid. xfire is a nice idea but the team dont support open integration, which makes them and by-proxy you the faggots.
Can you list some of the features it has others dont?SOAPboy wrote:Everyone i talk to online, uses xfire anymore.. hell even people who dont game, use it.. its just a BETTER messager than anything else.. O_oFoo wrote:Point taken on the GAIM plugin plus sodomy.

My issues with it are that it's closed source, small userbase, doesn't have people on it that I need to talk to.
Being geared towards gaming is good... for gaming. If there's a particular chat *network* that everyone should look to use, it's Jabber. Open source network, wide userbase, and a program like xfire could, if the Devs wanted, just use the jabber network for chat and open up their program to a mass of new users.
lol, the only people I have as friends on XFire are u and Memph, and Memph is never on.SOAPboy wrote:Open source..Foo wrote:Can you list some of the features it has others dont?SOAPboy wrote: Everyone i talk to online, uses xfire anymore.. hell even people who dont game, use it.. its just a BETTER messager than anything else.. lmfao... You retards and your open source crys..
Anyways, I has the basics, Text and voice chat.. and a built in downloading util for patches, videos, ect..
Did i mention its void of spyware unlike every other messager out there.. >_<

If you can't make good points without resorting to mocking, I don't know on what level you're trying to succeed in this debate.SOAPboy wrote:Open source..

Voice chat is cool and I'm missing it in Miranda right now. They only added that with one of the most recent versions of xfire tho.Anyways, I has the basics, Text and voice chat.. and a built in downloading util for patches, videos, ect..
GAIM, Miranda, Trillian. The 3 interoperable clients out there. None of them have spyware. Define the ones with spyware rather than saying something gratuitously false.Did i mention its void of spyware unlike every other messager out there.. >_<
I didn't know about kquery until after I pimped HLSW here. It's better than HLSW, in a lot of respects.Mogul wrote:kquery ftw tbh homos
If the source is closed, how would you know?SOAPboy wrote: Did i mention its void of spyware unlike every other messager out there.. >_<

Open source is particularly advantageous in a chat protocol because it allows for support in a wide range of clients. This is important because *stay with me* most people choose a client which lets them communicate with the people they know.

Anyways last chance. I've conceded points where appropriate and made a reasonable argument. If you feel you have to continue flinging shit and destroying your own argument with it then end of conversation.
Simple, EVERY anti virii app, and EVERY spyware app find NOTHING related to Xfire..pookie wrote:If the source is closed, how would you know?SOAPboy wrote: Did i mention its void of spyware unlike every other messager out there.. >_<
Also, jabber supports SSL so you can tunnel out port 443, which all orgs have open, connect to a server and port re-direct to the world. To any org sniffers, it looks like a normal https transaction and your login and conversation is unlikely to be sniffed some salacious tard
Lastly, kquery is damn good.
