Decided to try some AP with one of my planes today. Need to work on some things to get the camera better focused, and make a more versatile camera mount, but you get the idea. There will be better ones in the future. :D Denzzzz, Im ready when you are to get those gassers out. ;) Let me know when youre not busy on a weekend. Thats me in the last pic.

Here's a couple of the good ones I took today, touched up a bit in PS. Kinda hard to tell the second one is aerial, but its at least 400 feet up. :)

I tried to do this with a balloon and the new fangled disc camera in the early 80's...

I would, bet then Id need another camera. :p Its my only camera, but Ill borrow one, and take a pic when I have it remounted on the plane again. I just bought a mini tripod from walmart, and am going to make a better mount for it.

No, its just my Casio digital camera with a servo to push the shutter switch every time I want to take a pic. I just use an extra channel on my transmitter to run the servo.

If you started a business where you sold ready to go RC planes with a video camera attachment at a modest premium, I think you'd do quite well.

nice!

here's a silly question from someone that knows zilch about RC planes: any idea of the altitude? does it have some sort of altimeter on it or the "remote"?

Pretty cool skid. I thought of doing that to my plane but never got around to doing it. I have the camera too. I guess I could mount it. :)

I will give you a call when I'm ready to go out. Hopefully it will be soon.

I like that, "That's me in the picture." hehehee :olo:

You could probably slap a gps receiver on there or, better yet, an altimeter :D otherwise just 'wing' it

You'd have to rig some sort of telemetry system. Which gives me a cool idea, thanks Juggs.

For those interested, http://www.rctoys.com offers The Draganflyer, an extremely slick little RC...uh...thing that has great video capability. It's NOT cheap, as a matter of fact it's expensive as fuck. But damn it's cool.

For now you could take a pic of it in front of a mirror?

Since your cam is remote wireless, could you remotely use it from your pc, this way you could see the ground from your pc as if you would be yourself in the plane? That be cool hey? The only thing is you'd have to use a lap top or bring your pc and monitor outside.
BTW Cool pics.

Thanks guys. :) I took some more pics today, but it was pretty dark, so only a few came out good. Bet I think this shoot went better than before. I even took some video, but have to edit it. Ill post it when I get it done.

Also, working on yet another mount for the camera. I think this one will be great. Ill post pics when Im done.

dude... thats sweet!
low-tech spy plane... just don't let the NSA catch ya. ;)

would be cool if you could rig a high-res webcam to it, and a wireless access point on a high-gain directional antenna.
then we could watch what your plane sees from the net.
geeky-but-neat.
