Performance Increase with CPU Replacement

Hey gang, quick question. Here's my system:
AMD Sempron 2600+
1.5GB RAM
GeForce 6600 w/256MB AGP
Since it's Socket A, my upgrade options are limited. Would it be worth the effort to upgrade the CPU to a 3200+, or just wait until I can afford to replace CPU, MB and maybe RAM?
Overall, I'm getting decent performance, so I don't have to upgrade right now. Just thinking about my options.
Edit: sorry, typo for the type of video card. :icon28:

I would wait and replace it all. I would beef up the video card for now.

for the hell of it i checked ebay for the xp3200 earlier today .. prices more then expected and not far off from the newer 64bit cpu's.
i decided to wait and upgrade later

I would just save enough for a new cpu/mobo/video card.
It wouldnt be worth sticking with the socket a/462 system. The AXP offer better performace per clock and memory bandwidth (which you can use with the current memery). Don't buy a new card with this system, PCI Express is the way to go if you're upgrading, all the better AXP boards have PCI Express and no agp.

Strike AXP and read it as A64.

Another vote for waiting for a MB/CPU upgrade and maybe wait and get a gfx card at the same time.

Here in Holland you can buy (online) an Athlon64 3000+ (Venice) and a mobo that has both a PCIe and an AGP slot, for 200 euros. So that's what i did.
I'm talking about the ASrock 939Dual-SATA2 ULi M1695 mobo, which is quite popular and half as expensive as a high end nForce 4 but performs just 1 or 2% worse.
This way i'll start playing Q4 with my 9800 Pro. I can always upgrade to a 6600 GT or something similar later.

I think what I'm going to end up doing is not upgrading this PC at all, but slowly buy the components to build a LAN party PC. Since once I replace the mb, CPU and video card, that covers the most expensive parts, I may as well keep this PC running for the spousal unit, and create a dedicated gaming PC.
