Anyone have suggestions of which Nvidia and ATI tweaked drivers are good for Quake 4 please let all of us know.
I run a 3000+ 5600fx ultra but the framerates being quite low (even after tweaking config a bit) and am looking for better drivers than just stock.
Would probably help many others here to have some nice tweaked out drivers

ATI just released their hotfix:
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/AT ... 58330408/1
It says it supports Q4, but it dosen't say what exactly. Although I have a hinkering its the 35% performance improvement they found for Doom 3 engine-games when running 1024x768+ and Anti-Aliasing.

The file name is supposed to be "hotfix_xp-2k_dd_ccc_027483.exe," but Google doesn't get any hits.
The link sends you to ATI's anti-leeching page, so I'm guessing it isn't up for download yet.

Yeah hold on, ATI blocks direct-file links now.

Well Catalyst drivers are unified (ie, they work on every radeon card). But the problem only occurs on 1K, so you don't really need it. Catalyst 5.11 when it officially launches next month might have some FEAR/Q4/SS2/COD improvements.

Meh, the fix is aimed at the 1K family of cards.
For the X1K series, and it's a hotfix for image quality problems with those cards. No free performance gain for my 9800 pro, alas.

The omegas are great, one of the best modded drivers you can use.

I think Omega is better for ATi than for nVidia currently. Isn't he behind with the nV drivers?

Yeah I doubt the developers even keep the older cards around in their dev. boxes anymore, performance on those is pretty much as good as it gets, unless a driver readme explicitly mentions an improvement across the board for all radeons.

I'm running Omega drivers on my 9800 pro, I don't know if they are better than the ATI drivers but you could give them a try. Google it.

They are better (for most ppl), meaning that they are well tweaked ATi drivers, nothing is re-written or anything. I've used them since i got an GF4 and for my Radeon 9800 after that. Great drivers.
