Quake 4 review..

"9.0 Presentation
You'll see some things that Doom 3 didn't indicate its engine was capable of, and vehicle controls are intuitive
9.0 Graphics
Impressive use of the Doom 3 engine, and the character models don't have as much of that plastic look.
8.4 Sound
Hollywood actors lend some key voice talent, and there's plenty of ambient sound. Music is tasteful and well-placed.
8.0 Gameplay
Combat is relatively simple, and multiplayer is disappointingly limited.
7.5 Lasting Appeal
Short singleplayer, and not enough MP flavor to truly set it apart.

it would have been nice to have just a few more MP maps slipped in there. Like twice as many, but what can you do. Id and Raven look like they're really into the console thing, so a few elements of what's ostensibly a multiplayer franchise might get "streamlined," with one of those elements being… multiplayer.

I'm looking forward to this more than any other SP game for quite some time...be interesting to see how it compares to HL2.

You dont NEED any more. Maybe if it had some kind of SP MP game like Q3 did, but here, your only gonna ever play a couple of maps.

Like I said, 90% of the stock Q3 maps are never played online. Even q3dm6 and q3dm14 have been replaced by the pro/tmp versions. Custom maps will provide plenty of entertainment.
And single player... meh. Who cares.

I care about SP, however, I knew from the get-go, from that first id software/raven "chit chat" that SP was going to suck... They just have no clue how to make a current gen SP game with a story.
I'm still hoping it provides me a good deal of fun, it probably will. I just fail to see why i have to become a strogg if nothing really cool comes form it?

I have no problem with that, I only really played on 6 of the maps in Q3.

Gonna buy it day of..but
no demo/ beta test doesnt give me a good feel'n.
I bet the Q4:Team Arena expansion pack will kick ass though.

Shit, I still remember when I destroyed Paul Jacquays on his own map, q3tourney4..no wonder he left id..ouch.
