Fuck cops and their fucked up perceptions...

I got a ticket for going through a stopsign on my bike because the stupid cop didnt see what happened and assumed my guilt off the bat.

I live in Davis, CA where there are a shitload of bikers, half of which do not know how to bike at all so it's understandable that people are pissed at them. This makes cops see pretty much every biker as being in the wrong.

I approached a stopsign at ~5-10MPH and got there the same time as another car got there on my left. Since I was on the right, I had the right-of-way and proceeded. The way I stopped was very quick, in that I pulled up to the line and braked so my bike was stopped below me but I was still on the pedals and was getting ready to accelerate again. Seeing that it was my right to proceed, I proceeded to accelerate and so I was only stopped for a split-second. The cop claims I didnt stop and went through the stopsign at 7MPH, and that I also violated the right-of-way.

This fucking sucks, as the cop had an improper perception of what happened, and I'll have to miss work to argue the case, which is not worth my time to miss work over this. However, it's a $122 ticket, and its damn wrong for them to take this money from me based on a cop's misjudgement.

EDIT: BICYCLE...one of these:

Why do you have to blame cops for everything Canis? There are bikers all over the place making traffic a nightmare, so it's perfectly acceptable for him ticket any and all of them who even look like they are obstructing traffic. If you had come to a full, complete stop and not given him reason to doubt, you wouldn't have gotten a ticket. If you look like you might be breaking the law, then you should be treated like you're breaking the law. Why give him a reason to ticket you?

Wtf, since when do cops give tickets to bicycle riders?

LOL, still doesn't change the fact that you did not STOP at a stop light. That "stopped for a split second" is bullshit.

he didnt stop at a stop light. it was a stop sign ;)

What the cop didn't inform you is REQUIRED BY LAW a 5 second stop at any stop sign in the USA. That's 5 mississippi's with your vehicle at a full stop, not rolling.

It's in print in every driving manual

LOL, the same still stands.

He's supposed to come to a complete stop. Check left, right, yield to other traffic, then proceed into the intersection.

meh...... you got a ticket...... big deal

I drove down the beach front with my fog lights on cause 4xlight = better than 2xlight and I got ticketed twice for it

My friend got a parking ticket for parking in a timed zone figured fuck it I got a ticket now may as well leave it there only to find when he returned 3 hours later 3 more tickets on his window

Tickets = money
money = revenue
revenue = boss happy

Your acting like this is something new where in actual fact it was probably just your time. You drive by people all the time stopped by the police and automatically think "I wonder what they did" ...... in reality they probably did the same as you.

If I were a cop I'd be fucking humiliated when the boys back at the cop shop found out I was ticketing cyclists. I mean fuck are you THAT pathetic? :olo:

Where I live, cops get props for ticketing asshole cyclists(MOTOR CYCLISTS), ricers, and muscle car idiots.

Heh, I don't stop for more than a second when I'm out at 5am on my way to work and the cops driving around don't seem to mind. Actually, they do it too.

Oh.... well in that case he really should stop cause really... if you make a mistake on a bike you're the one that pays, whether you're right or wrong.

How many existentialists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Two. One to change the lightbulb and one to observe how the lightbulb symbolizes an incandescent beacon of subjectivity in a netherworld of Cosmic Nothingness.

How many Marxists does it take to change a lightbulb?

None. The lightbulb contains the seeds of its own revolution.

How many Episcopalians does it take to change a light bulb?

Six. One to change the bulb, and five to form a society to preserve the memory of the old light bulb.

You obviously didn't come to a complete stop, I don't think he's wrong but if it was me I would argue that ticket.

A complete stop means that you completely stop moving, in a car you have to clearly feel the car jerk back a little before you know it's a complete stop, usually it's about 3 seconds but doesn't have to be.

Canis is talking about a bicycle not a motorcyle.
half of which do not know how to bike at all
You don't bike on a motorcycle and you don't car on a car. You bike on a bicycle.

Um I refer to biking on a motorcycle, I am a biker not a pedal pusher/Cyclist.

in that I pulled up to the line and braked so my bike was stopped below me but I was still on the pedals and was getting ready to accelerate again. Seeing that it was my right to proceed, I proceeded toaccelerate

You also dont associate Acceleration with pedal pushing......
