Come to the united states and take a trip back in time.
basically you remember when pay as you go was vouchers and you needed to use the vouchers within 30 - 90 days dependent on the amount you bought..... Ah the bad ole days..... how I longed for their return.

In a nutshell, I went to go and see about getting one cause I left
MY GODDAMN CHARGER ON THE SIDEBOARD IN THE UK and as such I have no mobile. So I figured I'd get a pay as you go phone to tide me over till she brings it over to the states at christmas time.
200 dollars for the phone and the sales patter of "If you buy $100 worth it will last 90 days"

---- thats meant to be a sales pitch! I left in disgust cursing myself for leaving the
GODDAMN CHARGER ON THE SIDEBOARD

You are missing the point. The point is that they are trying to rip off teenagers who don't have enough credit and common sense to get a plan. I had to pay tmobile $75 to get a plan but it was well worth the money. Verizon on the other hand requires a $400 deposit for customers without credit.
