While we're on the topic of nonsense, McCain managed to push through his anti-torture regulations with 90-9 support in the Senate. Vocal opponents, chacteristically, included Jeff Session (R-Alabama) and some other ass-backwards republican senator in Texas.

It should be noted that the only thing approaching sanity to come out of Alabama in recent times was the restriction on eminent domain. They happened to be the first in the nation to restrict that particular supreme court ruling in their own state.
