error -17 on q3 install

decided to actually install the game, will prolly have to crack it since I lost the manual and box but when installing from the cd at around 40% going through the pak0 file I get error -17
the CD scratched possibility you think ??

Install it the old method, open th ecd up and copy the files over.
If it works, cool, if not yeah, fucked cd.

If I get the error -17 do you think installing the patch 1.31 over will do anything
doesnt that update the pak files anyway ?

yes..... seriously....... Currently getting it off limewire but limewire sucks ass, torrents do as well but I figure at least with a torrent I can just leave it on overnight and still be connected to a swarm rather than waking up and its been cut off at 98% like usual.
one that works at least...... with a half decent D/L rate
