Did you know…?

I would just like to make a topic about things that might be ordinary for some but that many people don’t know.
You don’t have to be a savant or scientific to post.
Just things you’ve read or even heard and may be you want to know if they’re true.
Just exchange your discovery or your doubts about a few.
As…Let me start.
A proportion person extending his arms…to the tip of his finger has the same length as his height.
Try it.
Remember the man in one of our savant?

May be because you don't post any and I want some entertainment in here.

Maybe you should go outside every once in awhile.
Making a few friends wouldn't hurt either.

Sorry me but...
I have more friends in here than in real life beside my parents and brothers...Believe it or not.
So I would like you to be my friend as well.
I know I don't write perfect english but I also know that you must understand it as well even with my grammar and all.
Take care my friend
I like you just as the testo and Ridla and the likes.
Have a great evening.
I am going to bed soon.

Things that might be orfinary for some people but others don't know about?
Hmmm...
Well, did you know ErbB2, but not ErbB1, reinitiates proliferation and induces luminal repopulation in epithelial acini? It's true.

Also, did you know that the recognition site for the restriction endonuclease BamHI is: GGATCC?
(and BamHI supplied by Invitrogen works best when used with REact 3 buffer solution)

Fun fact or just fun?
If you kicked Pete in the head, as hard as you could, it might make an improvement.
I say both.

sadly.

pete did you know that if you stretched the small intestine completely flat so that all its surface area was across 2 dimensions it would be big enough to bag you up, tie a knot, and throw you into a river?
and not just you but probably 2-3 other adults. lots of surface area for absorption.

I happened to be taking a break from working on a homework assignment when I read this thread, so I had the article right in my hands at the time.
I was also trying to point out that there are a lot of odd facts that anyone can come up with that no one else knows about. I apparently failed at doing so, though. :icon26:

do you prefer pfu or taq?

Have only ever used Taq, so I couldn't tell you.
I haven't done much pcr. I'm working on a cloning project right now, though, so I've been wading through restriction sites for days.

yea, for some reason I seem to remember taq coming along for widespread use during the time I was doing a lot of PCR. I think I started with pfu. I believe taq is definitely more thermally stable.
but i can't remember too clearly...i drank sooo much of that memory away..

Taq must be the common pol to use, because that's all I've ever heard used. All I know about it is that it stands for one of the thermophiles: Themo-something aqua-something. I hope that's one of my prelim questions.

Did you know that mathematically, there's no difference between a series connection of a resistor, capacitor, and an inductor and a mechanical system consisting of a mass, a spring, and a dashpot?

What's a dashpot?
Mine; a saying really but I had to share it

I knew that the whole intestine is like 30 feet long but I didn't know you could do that in only the small one at that.
