itunes can do it (depending on what you want to change). theres also this app with an arcane name like ID3Tagger or summat that can do it.

I still have a mass tagger app that I made myself floating around somewhere. Could also do mass file renaming based on ID3 tag or a custom input mask. Very handy if I say so myself :D

Maybe someone can help me: I have albumart in all my tags, tag&rename etc will read them fine, yet iTunes won't read the album art, I can re-save the artwork by dragging a cover onto tracks in iTunes but you can only do that per-track, which would take an age.

Any ideas?

Try Tag & Rename. There you can also use either ID3v1 or ID3v2 tags, or both. Maybe iTunes only supports one of them.

Tag & Rename > *

It also supports tags for other formats of course.

you can do that for more tracks, actually.
select multiple files, press CTRL-I. check the "artwork" box and doubleclick on the empty square. browse to the file of your choice and click save.

you can even delete the artwork file afterwards
