Patella pain

I honestly cannot remember hitting my knee against anything, but I probably did since it's the sort of thing I do from time to time. My knee is hurting like fuck, like a huge throbbing and unbearable aching. It's worse when I'm tired. and I'm just hoping it's from hitting against something and not something like RSI. Or maybe it's too much sitting. I'm sort of limping a bit because it really hurts to bend the leg. If I touch my kneecap it hurts so there's pain right on the surface as well from deep within. Does that suggest that I must have knocked it? Is this likely to be a superficial bruising? I see no redness but there seems to be a slight swelling by comparison to my other knee. The only painkillers I have are anadin extras. I've had this for a couple of days and I would have thought it might have calmed down by now. Although I did 3 gigs the last 3 nights which probably didn't help seeing as it's my bass drum leg. Any thoughts apart from amputation?

Probably is an overuse injury.

If I go to the doctor in the morning do you think he'll suggest some anti inflammatories or something?

I recommend the amputation of both legs.

Now hold on there, not so fast...They could always do knee restorative surgery by using excess cartilage from his nose :)

I can go to my local late night tesco to get something. Do they sell cuprofen over the counter, or is it like ibuprofen? I'm finding it hard to sit in this chair. The only relief from the pain I'm getting is to lie on my bed ( watching tv) with my leg stretched.

And my advice to you as an athletic trainer is to RICE (rest, ice, compress, elevate) it and go see a physical therapist.

This is clearly caused by an imbalance of the spinal humours due to your splendid honker's mass shifting your center of gravity.
A nose-ectomy is the only possible solution.

:olo:

Well, I bought some anadin ibuprofen capsules and I think they might be starting to kick in. This has actually been fucking excruciating ( cue violins). I'm walking like a pirate with a wooden stump. I put some food in the microwave, went to lie down and couldn't get off the bed to go and get the food.

Did you just lay on the bed muttering "YARRRR!" for a while?

Yeah I did, but with the emphasis more on " fuck this shit, it hurts!"
