i used to have a glass of vodka before i slept every night...i then got the urge for tequila..
they are both 40%, so why does the tequilla kick my ass real bad, but i can handle the vodka easily?
also why does the tequilla give a hangover, whereas the similar amount of vodka does nothing to me the next morning?

irunno, tequilla feels so much more hardcore. Before I started drinking more of it, one or two tequilla slammers was all I could really take in one sitting. It's also much more of a party drink imo (slammers rock at parties)
Vodka is a little easier all around, drinking it straight, easy to mix, and you can drink a lot more of it.
I think it's not only the alcohol %, but also what else is in it (derived from what it's made from and how it's made)

i dont want to spoil the effect tequila has on me at the moment, i like drinking it when im clubbing, i might stick to vodka on weekdays..
it still feels strange to get drunk and dance in a club, after yrs of chemicals/clubs in uk...
i know i cant dance like i used to, but i still kinda enjoy it
it just costs loads more to get drunk.

I drank a lot of these last night. Only with vodka instead of rum.
It was lots of fun mixing drinks and messing about with various vegetables and herbs - i might have to do that more often.

i don't feel bad, it's just a little sharp when you're not used to it. I'm well accustomed to it now, though

Tequila is a unique liquor. A lot of liquors are made from corn, wheat, potatoes and what have you.
Tequila's made from the sap of the agave plant in mexico. I've always thought that was probably what gives it the unique buzz and hangover that it has.

what type of tequila? gold ones have more sugars in them and other flavorings like caramel.
if your are drinking that, try some blanco instead. Don Julio and Cabo Wabo both make good blancos.

tequila is one of the few alcohols that is a stimulant not a depressant. Many people have quite strange reactions to tequila. I remember my buddy Ken saying he didn't drink it as it fucks him up. Anyway he had a shot or two at the most with us and 3 minutes later he just passed out, falling to the ground.
I love tequila.

I can't stand the taste of tequila. It's like drinking wood.

A hangover is caused by a combination of the toxic by-product of alcohol metabolism (acetaldehyde), dehydration, and Vitamin A, B (particularly B6) and C depletion caused by the chemical action of alcohol on your system. The symptoms are usually a dry mouth, nausea, fatigue, dizziness and headache and are caused by a combination of these factors.
Apart from the obvious toxic effects, you should realise you're suffering the effects of a mild overdose of a depressant drug and your nerves are reacting accordingly, and you have also flushed a signifnicant quantity of vitamins and nutrients from your system causing a degree of metabolic shock that your body is struggling to compensate against. This is why hangover symptoms often include disorientation and "the jitters".
Some drinks give you worse hangovers than others due to the actions of impurities called Congeners. While it's the ethyl alcohol (ethanol) that gets you drunk, amyl alcohol, butyl alcohol, methyl alcohol, propyl alcohol, and isopropyl alcohol is also found in most drinks to varying degrees, and the concentration of these Congeners will go a long way to determining the severity of the hangover.
Vodka and gin (clear liquors) are generally lower in congeners than whisky, rum and bourbon, due to the filtering process involved, and hence usually give a less intense hangover. Unfortunately the congeners also give flavor, smell and appearance to alcohol.
Another contributor to the hangover is the "freshness" of the alcohol since the natural oxidation product of ethanol is also acetaldehyde. Finishing off an already open bottle of red, or drinking beer that's been in the boot of your car for a week, will provide you with a ready made supply of acetaldehyde so you don't have to wait for your liver to make it in order to have a really good hangover.

Have you tried it without eating the worm?
That might be the cause
