Apps, suggestions?

Alright so I did a complete format and all the updates and drivers. Now I'm wondering what apps I should install.

Browser - Firefox with adblock
Music - Winamp 5
Video - WMP/Media Player Classic
Word Processing - Word 2003
Graphics - Infranview/Photoshop
Chat - mIRC
IM - MSN with apatch
Zip - 7-Zip
Bittorrent - BitComet
FTP - FileZilla
Spyware - Ad-Aware SE Personal/Spybot

Are there any better choices am I missing anything? Also which codec packs should I get, I've always used 3ivx but I get some expiry crap after 30 days from one of the audio codecs, also Real Player/Quicktime Alternative. Any more suggestions before I ruin my computer?

AVG Antivirus?
K-Lite coded pack for WMP (that I knew nothing of until yesterday :-/ ) ?

Maybe Textpad? Dunno if you'd need that for anything...

dunno if you were joking, but this is a great addition if you want to reboot with a batch file/system task on a regular interval. I use it on servers and my home machine to reboot once every 14 days.
You can also use it to remotely reboot any machine on your network.

Get K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. Don't forget Antivirus software, there are tons of choices, I personally use AVG Free Edition. Also you may need a Text Editor, like TextPad.

- All-Seeing Eye
- CCleaner
- Microsoft BootVis
- Nero
- TweakUI
- Driver Cleaner Pro
- 7-Zip
- Diskeeper
- Daemon Tools
- DAMN nfo reader
- Adobe Reader
- EndItAll 2
- Gaim

Firefox Extensions
- Tabbrowser Preferences
- undoclosetab
- adblock FilterSet.G updater
- Tab X
- Gmail notifier
- ForecastFox
- DownloadStatusBar
- ShowFailedURL
- ChromEdit
- Allow Right-Click
- All-in-one Gestures

You might want to check out http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/OptimizeXP.html , pretty good guide in tweaking WinXp for performance.

You may want to drop adaware it's not verry good anymore :( Sad to say too it kicked ass in the past.

Spybot is still great as well as MS antispyware.

Try GAIM as your slim IM ONLY instant messenger client.
Try XM Play instead of winamp for a slim feature packed MP3 player
Real Player Alternative
QuickTime Alternative

Use Winamp instead of WMA for playing video files.

Why winamp? I think it sucks for video, the controls are bad.

I tried Defiler pack but couldn't play my video files and got some dll error. :( So I went with 3vix again.

Yeah I don't rate Winamp for video playback. It's OK but I think winamp should be dedicated to audio, let someone else spend time on the video.

VLC is 'okay'. Media player classic is great.

The one area where Winamp Excels is Internet based music videos off of their servers. Pretty much anything you want at any time, kinda like a good version of a video jukebox.
