hey what size is that bug, i know the size of those mini-bagoneias are, but its not helping me.

yea bugs are hard to get without getting like, right in there, because there is such alot going on in such a tiny area on those little buggers.

see if you can get your camera to focus through a magnifyin glass or backwards bi-nocular, or whatever lense things you may have around.

carefull on the lense' tho hehe

They're 2 to 3 inches long, plained. AFAIK.

Daddy long legs are ~2 inches with the legs. The body is ~1/4 inch long.

It is the 'daddy-long-legs spider', Pholcus phalangioides.





The name 'daddy-long-legs spider' is a bit confusing. These spiders look a bit like daddy-long-legs, i.e. the Crane-flyTipula, but these have wings.





. Perhaps a better name that is been used is 'long-legged cellar spider'.

Haha, I remember one time when I was at my gransparent's camp my brother was hording a bunch of the little things in a jar (they were ALL OVER), then he plucked all their legs off and put their bodies in his hands. Stuffed them in my grandmother's face and said "Look what I got!"

It was a squirming pile of pill-shaped bodies. Then I smacked the bottom of his hand and he spilled them all over the floor. We spent a good 10 minutes picking them all up.

Apparently they're called different things in different places. I've always known the pill-shaped body ones as 'daddy long legs' and have heard that there was another one with the same name that was actually a spider (the pill-shaped one isn't technically a spider). I didn't know those crane fly things were daddy long legs. They're pretty badass looking, nonetheless.

Aren't they supposedly one of the most venomous spiders in the world, but their fangs can't pierce our skin we don't mind them much...

The crane flies are a family (Tipulidae) of insects resembling giant mosquitoes. Like the mosquito, they are in the order Diptera (flies). The other two are the harvestmen and vibrating, cellar or house spider. As such, Crane Flies are wrapped up in the myth of being the most poisonous spider, but unable to bite humans. This is incorrect, and the myth was not intended to refer to Crane Flies, as they are not spiders at all. They do bite humans; in fact, adult crane flies live for only a few days to mate, and do not feed at all (some species' adults may occasionally lap nectar, but always search for human blood).
