I have quite a few ex-friends as a direct result of this game. If this plague thing turns out to be true, then great.
You lost friends as a result of a computer game? :olo:

I wouldnt call it lost. When someone puts a game over friendship and breaks their word on more than one occasion to stay home and play a game then fuck em with a baseball bat.
Oh. I got the impression you were both playing a game, got into a situation like a dispute over some item in the game and broke off the friendship as a result. :D

I've had friends distance themseslves by playing the Final Fantasy MMORPG, and prioritize the game over doing anything to support the friendship (hanging out, chatting, grabbing a bite to eat, etc.). I ended up dropping them as friends and the relatioship fizzled to nothing. It was a shame, but it just wasnt worth my time to keep the friendship alive if they werent going to put any effort into it.

I thought about playing WoW. I played it for a while when it was a beta and the premise of the game appeales to me. However, I realized when playing it that I'd have a much more productive time progressing in my real life instead of the one blizzard came up with.

it is a bug.

I'm no Wow player, so WoW players, do correct me if I'm wrong in my explanation.

As I understand it, if a Quest becomes to difficult you can "bail out" of that instance of the quest. Like a warp to safety or something. If people would try the quest with the boss which infected a player, and the player managed to survive, but did bail out, the disease wouldn't be cleared from the player (I think it would be cleared if you simply completed the quest or left the area in a normal fashion or something). So people would bail out, survive while having the disease and infect other players in towns.

The disease is so hard-hitting though, that once it hit the towns, large numbers of players instantly died from it.

This isnt guild wars.. so no, you are wrong..

Its on a timer, its there until someone dispells it off you, or that timer runs out.. theres no "omg bail" button to get away from the debuff..

okay well, I read somewhere that it was a bug related to some kind of bail out function not clearing the disease.

"living bomb" was another debuff that had a crazy effect and could wipe out entire areas of towns..

Thing is, the bug isnt really wiping the debuff, its more the debuff effecting people OUTSIDE of the instance/group at the time..

Honestly, why anyone would "run" anyways is beyond me, the death penalty in WoW is next to nothing, and in a real group your gonna a rez pretty soon after death so its not like you even have to bother..

:p

You can't get rid of it either. You have to wait out the timer.

If you want a video of it in action I can link you.
