Well, a regular battery is just a form of fuel cell, and the reactions that take place in them are comparable to the description there.

I would say it's no more dangerous. The fact that it has a refill socket by neccesity decreases safety a bit I guess.

Would suck to get ethanol all over your ipod.

maybe less dangerous if regular batteries have acid in them.
