When the computer starts up, does it list it along with your Hard Drive etc?
Have you set the jumper on the back of DVD Drive?

Yea, jumper settings. Is it the only drive connected to that cable, or is there another drive on the same IDE channel?

The message that says "Press F2 for Setup," or whatever.
If you don't get a prompt saying that, then try pressing F2 or DEL while it's posting the hardware. You might even try F10 or F12 if those don't work.

Then you probably need to set the jumper on the back of the DVD drive to be Slave. It should have a diagram on the drive showing where the jumper should be.
Although personally, I would probably set the DVD drive as Master, and set your CD drive as Slave.

Is there no diagram on the drives? Or have you just not changed jumper settings before?

No reason to be condescending. Some people haven't done it a hundred times, or even once.

Try uninstalling demon tools completely, rebooting a couple of times, then plugging the drive in.
If it doesn't recognise it then, carry on looking for a solution but don't reinstall demon tools until it's working..
I think it's making things more complex for you.
