I give Avengers a very solid 8/10. Pleasantly surprised.

That's about my score too. Just got home from seeing it. Really good flick.
Forgot to take my 3D glasses I had at home from the last time I went to the cinema. Had to pay £1.50 for another pair, the swines.
Oh yeah, awesome 3D prometheus trailer too. Also, Max Payne advert is quite impressive on a massive screen.

They do in HK, too. In most other places they just lend them to you. :/

I've stolen every pair of 3D glasses I've ever worn at a theatre.

Avengers in 3D . . fell asleep at the beginning, eyes wide the rest.
3D was not over the top.
Liked it 7/10

as opposed to just rolling it up in the ticket price, so that even if you already have a pair, you pay for them again and again

Avengers (3D) - 8 / 10

Was surprised by how well this was done.

3D effect was nicely done too. Wasn't super over the top and actually added some nice detail to the scenes.

I watched Hubble 3D last night, in 3D, on my 3D monitor.
Really excellent, I felt like I was there doing the spacewalks, so I'm very impressed with my new 3D monitor and the movie.
Did I mention 3D?

You know what would be cool to see on a 3D screen? Your nose. I bet the depth effect would be gargantuan.

Sherlock Holmes 2 - 4/10 (extra point for Steven Fry being awesome)

Poor considering how much I loved the first one - shame
Edit:
Just to expand a little further. It didnt feel like it was a Holmes film or story. The element of mystery is sadly missing and the general means that Sherlock is not actually needed; you could have called the characters by any name and put it in any time zone and it still would have been poor. The script had none of the charm of the original, though Downey Jr and Law still play their parts well.

avengers - 8/10
not a marvel fan at all but agree with everyone else, solid entertainment - joss whedon is exactly what the franchise needed

red tails - -infinity/10
crappy special effects, sub-daytime television direction and a terrible, terrible script. it's like it was method-produced with similar restrictions to the ones the tuskegee airmen faced - you can have CGI, but you're not allowed whatever post-processing is needed to properly blend it with the scene. you can have a script, but you're only allowed to use lines copied from comic strips - and you can have cuba gooding jr, but he's only allowed to use one expression and that expression must at all times be the desperate need to poop.

sod it, red tails isn't worth a proper rant. some of the dogfighting bits are sort of okay but otherwise it's shit. whoever directed this is a cunt.

splinter - 7/10
low-budget monster horror that ticks all the right boxes, hopefully it will spawn a sequel with a bigger budget.

Avengers = 6/10 - Not great, not horrible. A decent superhero movie.

God Bless America = 6/10 - Hilarious.

George Lucas had his hands all over this project...which is probably the main reason it sucked....because George Lucas had his hands all over this project.

Half in the Bag reviews this piece of shit.

I think that's the highest you've ever rated something (without dissecting this thread).
Now I will have to go see it.

Contagion - 5/10 - basically a TV miniseries concept squashed into about 90 minutes, rather soporific and lacking much in the way of drama

at least no black minor authority figure in a medical setting uttered the cliched line "sir, i'm gonna need you to calm down"

For those of us who don't wear fancy pants:

so·po·rif·ic
adj \-ˈrif-ik\
Definition of SOPORIFIC
: causing or tending to cause sleep

Thought it was ok'ish for a movie in a genre that has been profoundly beaten to death.
Although it was a bit too desperate in trying to tightrope walk between presenting it as the thinking man's version of said genre, while still keeping it actiony and interesting.
Plus I thoroughly loathe Jude Law, the smug cunt.

Avengers - 7/10 - probably the best of the Marvel/Avengers series since the first Iron Man. Joss Whedon was a good call. It doesn't deviate from The Formula for summer action, but at least it had some good dialogue.
