If you think he's awesome and avant-garde, you're wrong. The only thing that saved this from being shit/10 was the brilliant job done by the actor that played Colonel Landa. Even Brad Pitt was horrid, and that's assuming he was going for over-the-top with the role. Crap, utter crap.
You pretend like everyone else is the douchebag yet you do little other that call it shite without saying why.
Do you understand what a spaghetti western is, because it sounds as if you're just butthurt that the movie is over your head. I would be too, it wasn't that deep.

Oh jesus, apparently I've upset the local film school fag. Yes, I know what a spaghetti western is, you insipid tool. Tarantino makes nothing but miserable spoofs, he's pure schlock and spurting blood. There's nothing there to be over anyone's head, the movie's devoid of substance. It's not like Stone's Natural Born Killers, which used the ridiculous gore to take a swipe at American fascination with violence in the media, it's just shit. The only reason why Tarantino's movies, other than Reservoir Dogs, are any good at all are because they're so fucking awful.
Please, enlighten us all regarding the brilliant depth of this film.

Nightshade has a good point. Personally, I've always thought Tarantino was extremely overrated. Same with the Coen brothers for that matter but each to their own.
Avatar - 9/10 One of the best sci-fi movies to come out in a loooooong time. Amazing flick.
Outsourced - 8/10 Excellent comedy about cultures colliding.
Paper heart - 1/10 Charlyne Yi just isn't funny in any way.
Millers Crossing - 6/10 Another Coen bros movie, nuff said.
Jennifer's Body - 3/10 I only made it through this because it was background noise while I was working online.
Law Abiding Citizen - 8/10 Really well acted and well written.
Traitor - 7/10 Very well done and underrated.
Year One - 3/10 Jack Black isn't an amazing comedian at the best of times but this movie is a step down even from his other work.

Just brilliant. OAP (Michael Caine) gets fucked off with the local scum and goes on a mission. Brilliant.

8 Diagram Pole Fighter (subtitled version)
It acts like it's not about revenge but then it is. Still there is some good action at the start and the story and action throughout hold your attention well. Near the beginning is shown what the horror of war can do to someone, quite interesting. Not that I didn't already know, but it was well executed in this film.
Batman Begins
2nd time I've seen this, but on a better screen with decent sound this time. Stll, it wasn't as impressive as when I first saw it. The fighting seemed even less impressive having watched a kung fu film recently before. The story's good, the gadgets and Batmobile are unimpressive, but the story behind them is good. It's nice to have some real-world context for the gadgets rather than it just being "he has this stuff cause he's Batman".
What impressed the most in this viewing was the acting. Good performances for all the main characters
Also, it's nice to have some humour in the film, though the 2nd time around it's not all that funny.
There are a couple of inconsistances in the plot that spoil the believability of it a bit. I.e.:
1) He saves some guy's life only to blow up the building he's in. Unless we're supposed to notice him escape, but I didn't, so if that was the intention that bit was badly directed/edited.
2) He saves some guy's life, who is knocked out. He leaves him with someone who says "I'll tell him you saved his life". Later in the film the guy says "You left me for dead".
WTF?
Anyway, yeah, it's still a good film, the story is well told and all. I'm looking forward to seeing the next one, even though I don't like what I've seen of the Joker in it. Yeah I know people have said the actor did a great job for him, but people said simmilar things about Jack Nicholson's Joker, believe it or not. Anyway I'm sure it won't spoil the film, Jack Nicholson's Joker didn't spoil the Batman film he was in.
It was nice to see CGI used so effectively to realise Gotham City aswell

Saw Avatar finally.
Better than I thought it would be - I thought the story would be so flimsy and generic that it would be a huge detractor from the effects, but I think they did a pretty good job with it. I'd give it an 8.5/10.

Fantastic, although the 3D was a bit gimmicky and didn't make much of a difference.

Finally got around to watch District 9
Great and somewhat different 'doco' movie for those that haven't seen.
Briefly, refugee (although never really explained ) Aliens come the Earth and are "housed" in slum like conditions in South Africa.
The digital & special effects are quite amazing.
Interesting to see the alien and earthly cultures interacting in the movie in a somewhat believable way.
8.5/10

I saw it 11am today (local) .. Impressed throughout, more than I really expected. Special effects ++ made it
@ Captain Mazda, just wondering if you've seen it in 2D? I accept your comment re gimmicky but I, and I haven't seen a 3D movie in 20+ years btw, found it a totally immersing experience as it should be I suppose. I will no doubt see it again, possibly 2D.
I hark to comments in another thread......

It was very good, the story was predictable as everyone has said. Definitely worth a see in 3D.
That was the only way to see the movie!
Me, well 9.5/10

No I haven't seen it in 2D. For a movie that relies so much on visuals, I'd prefer to see it in 3D again.

I was a skeptic going in, so didn't really expect too much, especially from the story. I was very pleasantly surprised. The visuals were pretty stunning, and even though the plot was predictable the film was totally immersive.
It was a nice touch having weaker gravity and the Navi being so much larger than humans -- especially when it came to them throwing humans around like dolls.

It was fucking George Lucas and his "I'm going to rape every movie franchise you love" curse.
"Hey Spielberg! You know what would make this movie about everyone's favorite Nazi-punching archaeologist even better? FUCKING ALIENS."

I kinda wished they made Indy 4 with no serious CGI at all... The plot was poor granted, but I've seen worse. The issue was George shoving CGI into EVERY scene... Look at the old Indy films, they look fantastic even when that plane hits the damn snow mountain and you can see the copy/paste explosion. Even with the painted backdrops... It had style.
Indy 4 raped my eyes in a bad way and I honest to God almost walked out when that talentless fuck swung with the monkies... Fucks sake...
The entire thing was as bas as Arnie in Terminator Salvation...

I fell asleep for about an hour and a half in the cinema in indy 4
felt my eyes drooping in the bit where he's in the university in the beginning and woke with a start just as he was raping monkeys on a jeep.

Burn After Reading - 7.5/10
Lots of laughs, but lost a few points because of the uninspired plot and gratuitous and out-of-place violence.
Although I must admit John Malkovich wielding a hatchet is pretty damn funny.
Points regained by fantastic cast and filmmaking. Malkovich is a genius -- and I got to the point where I just started chuckling whenever I saw him -- and that chair Clooney's character made was about the funniest thing I've seen for a long time. Incredibly, Brad Pitt was the weakest of the bunch, but he had some good moments (esp. in the car w/ Malkovich).
If it wasn't for the combination of cast and Coens, it would be pretty meh... but they made a good job out of what they had.
