No. Its straight up PR bull@#$%. Kinda like the Blair Witch Project. Just because they say its true, doesn't make it true. I've lived in Nome, there's nothing very exciting that happens there, not a lot of murders, definitely no serial killers, and there sure as **** aren't any alien abductions. The funniest thing about the trailer, is that everyone in the film is white (definitely the minority in Nome), there aren't too many black guys around, and in the trailer, there are mountains surrounding the town (Nome is pretty much flat as far as the eye can see). I'm going to give this movie about as much credibility as 30 days of night.
I love quake!

7/10 for what it is. it's more of a psychological thriller ..and the only thrill of it comes from the supposition that what you see was real footage.

3 of those points come from the entertainment factor me and my girl had talking about it after we watched the film... the possibilities of that happening to us and how we would react to the situation accordingly.

GONNAFISTYA wrote:2012 = 0/10 - At 2 and a half hours it's as much a test of endurance as it is a test of psychological pain threshold: you cannot wait for it to be over. Easily the worst - and dumbest - movie to come out the last few years. The VFX were cool, but there was nothing really there that you won't get bored of after 20 seconds or so on-screen...as it steals nearly every disaster shot/sequence to appear on film from the last 15 years. Even the flooding sequences were boring as it's all been done before and - in most cases - to better effect than this POS. Nowhere near as epic - or "popcorn entertaining" - as promised and when its over leaves you feeling dirty for having watched it.

If, like me, you're really curious about seeing this film for the "action shots" you'd be better served simply watching the trailer and sparing yourself from the nightmare that is yet another example of Roland Emmerich pissing in the audience's face. If you must see it, find some way to do it without paying because as r0n1n has already said, this film doesn't deserve to make any money at all...lest you be cast into the fires of hell for buying a ticket.

Skip it if you have any self-respect.
Everthing with the tag "Roland Emmerich" deserves to die in a fire.

If you're hoping that Hollywood will stop producing the same shitty kind of dribble like 2012, perhaps by not paying to see it, it's too bad that there are more brain dead curious types who buy into the hype than those who are intelligent enough to see through it.
2012 opens with $225m tidal wave at global box office... Ticket sales in the Us and Canada brought in $65million, with the foreign tally of $160million from 105 countries, led by France.
Fucking Frenchies.

The Men Who Stare at Goats - 8/10

I'm not really sure what I expected going into it, but what I saw was definitely not what I expected; at heart it's a stoner movie - but it's a damn funny stoner movie.

Jeff Bridges plays The Dude (think the big lebowski) and George Clooney is The, albeit aged, Dude's disciple.

Edit: Haha and I just thought of it, but if you've seen the new star war movies then the jedi jokes shouldn't be lost on you.

Inglorious Basterds - 4/10

I miss films like Jackie Brown or Pulp Fiction where classic Tarantino dialogue would add a great dimension to an already great film. I really tried to conveniently forget efforts like Kill Bill and Death Proof, but I can only have good expectations for his movies based on past successes so long before I reach my breaking point.

I can't decide whether Tarantino dialogue - which comes off more and more as drivel - is just cliche at this point or if truly is that much worse. Either way, I can't help but feel each new Tarantino movie at this point is a parody of his past successes.

It's nothing new, and in this case, having good expectations is its downfall.

Star Trek: 6/10 First hour, I thought I had found the perfect re-boot. And then....and then....

FUCKING STOP WITH THE TIME TRAVEL HORSESHIT. YOU FUCKS!

seriously just fucking stop...TT as a crutch because you ran out of ideas, caught writer's block, or whatever the fuck. You make the whole ST universe less intelligible, less interesting, and extra gay. This movie could've been a monster, but unfortunately had to settle for a shmoo.

The blu-ray is fantastic...maybe I'll be less critical of the time travel faggotry on the next viewing.

How in the hell do improved visuals change your opinion of a major plot point? Fag.

BTW (and I'm sure you already know this) but the reason for the time travel - or the creation of an alternate universe by way of a paradox - was the only way to reinvent the franchise (and do whatever they wanted with the inevitable sequels as they literally took 40 years of canon and flushed it down the toilet) without having a bunch of zit-faced nerds screaming,"No! That's not what happened during the period of Stardate: 09809809809808098098080.3!"

The improved visuals won't change anything you slimey little gizz bucket...but I usually wait until a 2nd viewing before I react publicly to a movie I'm on the fence about. My own expectations often clog up my critical sense the first go around, not allowing me to give the movie a fair shake. I agree with your second point...but this move was absolutely unnecessary and it debased the whole affair. It was ham handed and artless.

Yeah, pretty interesting premisse.
You're right about the emo shit getting in the way a bit, but otherwise it's pleasantly dark and rewarding.

Where did this whole "it's a trap" meme come from, anyway?
I'm guessing someone got owned bad here, and tried to turn shit around by pretending it was all planned to prove some point.
Just curious about this hiatus in my knowledge of q3w lore.
