i think the primairy reason for threatening to sue is because of the movies they release for it. different rules apply to movies than for games, no? (see nintendo's handhelds). with movies they also have a responsibility to the studio's, not just to themselves

It's probably got to do with that whole retarded DVD region thing or something like that. For some reason it's lethal to let, say people in Europe see an US release of a movie.

That's probably some clever tactic to make Microsoft feel relaxed about charging 400 bucks for their console, allowing Sony to dive under that price (or more likely the same price).

With Nintendo saying Revolution will be cheap, if Microsoft would feel threatened by Sony, MS might lower their price as well, which would make the PS3 by far the most expensive console on the market. Now that the XBox 360 is $400, a fourhundred dollar price on the PS3 is slightly more justifyable.
