What he doesn't get is that a 1k gun becomes a 20k and they become a lot harder to obtain by your average fuckwit or 16 year old kid. Stricter selling laws and background checks would also help...
I agree that there should be stricter regulations for the sale of mag fed pistols and rifles in this country. However, Dampstain's original post was derogatory, vague and assumptive. Implying that this would have never happened if "Fat Neck" America had stricter gun laws. This guy wasn't your average criminal looking to knock over a liquor store. He was a terrorist. Sure, guns were what he used to kill people in the nightclub. But there are reports he was wearing a bomb vest and explosive materials were discovered where he lived. This guy was going to kill a lot of people no matter what. No "law" is going to prevent terrorism.
To address your point about what happens when guns are "banned". It's naive. To think there is some kind of real value to be gained from stripping millions of there rights to prevent the actions of a few... Nonsense.
I agree it won't stop things entirely, but it would make things a lot harder for these guys to get hold of. Then you have an easier job of tracking these types of things. And it isn't just the terrorists with guns, its the almost weekly "Kid finds gun and shots mother/sister/brother" stories. Columbine, Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech - these are not terrorist activities. These are angry kids or people with guns you can buy when you go to pick up some milk.
You can make bombs out of fertiliser and a few other bits and bobs you can get from various stores, so that is just one of those things. If someone is that determined to hurt people they will. Hell, just drive a car as fast as you can into a crowd of people if you want. You'll cause a shit load of deaths. Getting a car is easier than getting a gun, but it's more effort to do that than to just pull a trigger on a weapon that fires 30 rounds in 5 seconds. That shit can be done on a whim.
Also I do agree there is real value in banning them. As a country, you have some of the most terrible laws I have every heard of. The three strikes law is utterly stupid but they won't get rid of it because private companies running prisons make too much money from it. Is it the same thing with guns? Are too many jobs and too much money at risk? You are also a country that is capable of "progressive" thinking. I am happy to see places like Colorado, Alaska and a few others have started selling weed legally and are making a shit ton of money from it. They don't sell cocaine or meth though...the drugs that can really fuck people up. Why not use the same premise with guns? Sell hand guns with stricter laws but get rid of the assault rifles etc. I personally think you should just ban them, but that won't happen over night. So baby steps.

No one is banning guns in America in our lifetime. I don't care how much you protest or complain. The gun lobby and culture here won't allow it. The best anyone can hope for is better regulation... Get over it.
Now why not address the real issue here?

But if everyone with sense and reason complained in the USA then you might be in with a shot (super pun!)

‘No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens
ISLA VISTA, CA—In the days following a violent rampage in southern California in which a lone attacker killed seven individuals, including himself, and seriously injured over a dozen others, citizens living in the only country where this kind of mass killing routinely occurs reportedly concluded Tuesday that there was no way to prevent the massacre from taking place. “This was a terrible tragedy, but sometimes these things just happen and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop them,” said North Carolina resident Samuel Wipper, echoing sentiments expressed by tens of millions of individuals who reside in a nation where over half of the world’s deadliest mass shootings have occurred in the past 50 years and whose citizens are 20 times more likely to die of gun violence than those of other developed nations. “It’s a shame, but what can we do? There really wasn’t anything that was going to keep this guy from snapping and killing a lot of people if that’s what he really wanted.” At press time, residents of the only economically advanced nation in the world where roughly two mass shootings have occurred every month for the past five years were referring to themselves and their situation as “helpless.”

I guess blaming guns and ignoring fanatical intolerance is easier. It's that PC state of mind.
Carry on.

But this thread is about the nightclub shooting where a homosexual/homophobic Muslim extremist killed 49 people.
Way to deflect.
Funny how there are so many different aspects going on here (homosexual hate, self hate, religious hate, religious extremism, allegiance pledged to ISIS, possibility of additional shooters, a father that's a Taliban sympathizer, people who knew of the shooters intentions that say anything and the list goes on) and the only thing you can focus on is the gun.
Sad...

There was a shooting and people want to talk about guns. Strange.

Sorry if I have not shown enough anger and hatred towards a sympathiser of a group of people that go against most reasoned peoples beliefs. I thought it might have been a given, but obviously not. And the gun is quite a large part of the killings what with it firing the bullets that entered the people who died and survived.
SHIT. ITS THE BULLETS FAULT!

No one is asking for anger or hate. That's what got us here. The gun is also a small part of this problem and the least likely to change. However, it is the easiest target seeing how it can't be offended.
Your perpetual ignorance is the problem.

It's the most identifiable part of the equation.
Transient wrote:It's about all of these things and the way they intertwine, I reckon. If the mental problems had triggered something in the background check, maybe he wouldn't have the gun. If society was more accepting of the LGBT community, maybe his mental issues wouldn't have manifested as homophobia. If the government wasn't dropping bombs on Muslims, maybe he wouldn't feel the need to retaliate on behalf of ISIS. There's plenty of blame to go around.

I disagree. The most identifiable part is what has has been responsible for killing people before guns.

Old news here in the states. But homosexuality hasn't been killing people for thousands of years and is not the core problem.
