god damn this game is fun
yeah; no kidding. The game is massive, even if you played 24 hours straight you can't experience more than 20% of the content... but if you want a proper review from car guys playing super long stints read this.brisk wrote:http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/gran-turismo-5
86 average at the moment, mainly because of a few 8/10 reviews from sites like cvg.
I read that review code for this game only came out on Monday. How can anyone expect to review a game the size of GT5 in only 2 days? Way too many journals are concerned more about getting their reviews out first than actually playing a game to completion and discovering all it has to offer. I haven't played GT5, but if its anything like the others, it is a game that demands serious investment to get all it has to offer.
And yeah, 8/10 shouldn't be considered a bad score, but certainly disappointing when 9 seems to be the gold standard in the gaming press.
actually one thing they got right adding to this one is you aren't just grinding for cars. As you win shit your driver level increases which opens up more and more hardcore simulation features so the game has the option to get more realistic and difficult as the player gets more "seat time".brisk wrote: And thats the point. I find it highly unlikely that you can unlock and drive all the cars in two days. In my experience with GT, all the cars drive VERY differently and your experience in a race (and subsequently the game as a whole) changes drastically depending on the car you are using.
disabling internet connectivity on the ps3 gets around this, btw. still shouldnt happen.Grandpa Stu wrote:just now i'm getting a message saying "server is undergoing maintenence." ok, so? SO career mode is effictively locked out now. wtf. just sits there on the GT logo loading screen. wtf?
I completed 17% in under 10 hours yesterday. Would have gotten more but I spent a lot of time on the NASCAR stuff which is fucking next to impossible without a wheel.Dr_Watson wrote:even if you played 24 hours straight you can't experience more than 20% of the content... but if you want a proper review from car guys playing super long stints read this.
Have you played Gran Turismo before?Silicone_Milk wrote:loving this game.
Also, what's the deal with every A spec race requiring a radically different car from every other race. I dumped like 100k credits in to a civic for laughs and added wings to it then find out I need italian classics, european classics, japanese classics, non-american whatevers, hatchback only, and trucks only. What the hell?
Pretty sure my point is that I put all of the time and money in to making a car I like even more badass and being told that there was no point in even doing that since it's only good for a single race.EtUL wrote: If you whine about driving "crappy cars" I pity you because that's the fun of the game. Just buy some arcade racer.
