Definately get a test drive. Make sure you hit at least 160km/h and then do a 160-0 braking, the brakes are very nice. With an intake, turboback, and a chip, the car will be perfect.

I think what I love about the RX8 is the 9k redline. A friend of mine let me drive his to lunch one day and it just demands a heavy foot on the pedal. Launching comfortably from a stoplight at like 3k, hearing that engine pur, mmmmm.

Looks like 04 G35 coupe is within range as well.

The STi is a fast car for the money, but that’s it. It’s popular with the kids because it’s so easily moddable and it also enjoys a fantastic rally history. If you buy a STi you’ll regret it until the day you sell it. It’s uncomfortable, noisy, has poorly designed and badly built interior, smelly and people who aren’t boy racers that drive them look like complete cunts. I couldn’t drive for move that two hours at a time in one in fact I found myself being in a worse mood when I got to a destination than when I left. Fuck, even the caddy shits all over it for being an all over car and the fact TB loves them just compounds my point.

I'd get a newer used IS200 if I were you. Actually, odds are high that I WILL be getting an IS200 in the coming few months, so I'm a bit biased, but I haven't found anything better IMO that's in the price range. (Though I'm not looking for a racer, I need something that's luxurious/classy enough and still moves when you floor it, which is why I'm not even looking at the STi)

Or fork out a little bit extra and get a new 1.8T A4, costs about 36k $ over here for the cheaper ones (without AWD, manual, etc)

We don't have the 200 here in the states. Before 2006 the only IS is the 300. I could get an 06 is250 but that would be stretching my target payment. I still owe a couple grand more than my eclipse is worth so anything I buy is going to cost more than sticker.

Basically the same car, bigger engine. I would even concider getting it over the IS200, but, unfortunately, they don't sell the IS300 in Europe

Although the reviews were thorough, I'm not sure I'd place must leverage on their decision factors. It seems the biggest factor for them was speed.

And they all agreed the S-Type was the best looking? Fucking L - O - L
That alone should negate any rating they give these cars.

bitWISE, check out the Audi A4 2.0T. Buy one with an S-Line package, chip it, and never look back.

Whoa, don't get me wrong I love Bimmers and drove an M3 for a while but, I'm talkin' "seat of the pants" feel. One other thing, parts and service for German machinery will kill ya money wise.
