I think it would be awesome to see a couple of crossover games.

The top rugby players get together to make an american football team, and play against some of our players.
And our top players in the NFL could make a rugby team to play against some of the Euros.

Unfortunately the NFL would never allow it. They don't even like their athletes playing backyard football on their own time, for fear they could get hurt, even in the off-season.

lol, the rugby part might be fun to watch, but there is no way in hell they could come close to matching up with an nfl team at football. I doubt they could even hang with a top 25 college team, maybe not even beet a top high school team.

man that game gets a break every 10 secs

they need to be running round for 80mins solid, and when theyre built for power i doubt thats highly likely (90 mins for soccer)

i dunno who they are but they gotta be playing when the rest of the team has dropped dead :smirk:

in the end it comes down to the games may have some similarities but they are competely diff

and my point was a rugby player would get demolished on a NFL pitch the same way an NFL player would get demolished on a rugby pitch

Lots of american sports, including american football, seem rather boring to me, at least on tv. That's all i can say cause i hardly know the rules of american football and its obvious i've never played it.

For me, one of the exceptions is basketball, which i enjoy both playing and watching. I also like watching NHL matches, i'd like to learn ice hockey sometime.

I used to play baseball and I loved it. Being at a game is a blast too.

But watching it on tv, it's boring and complete shit.

Basketball is like that too. Playing is fun, but watching it - on tv or even at a game - is completely boring to me. Run down the court, score. Run back, score. Run down again, score. Run back, oh it's blocked. Run down again, score.

I think if a guy can do acrobatics while scoring, then maybe it's time to make the game a little harder. I mean, 50 scores in one game, just for one team?

HISTORY OF AMERICAN FOOTBALL

Football historians, those who have studied the game and its origins, place the game’s beginnings in rugby, an English game played with many similarities to football. Rugby began in eighteen twenty-three at the famous Rugby Boys’ School in England. Another cousin of the game of football is soccer; its beginnings can also be traced to English origin, being played as early as the eighteen twenties.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: ITS BEGINNINGS

At the same time, a group of students at Princeton began playing what was then known as ‘ballown’. First using their fists to advance the ball, and then their feet, this game consisted mainly of one goal: to advance the ball past the opposing team. There were no hard and fast rules applied to this earliest attempt at the game we now call football.

basically the game is a cross between Rugby, Soccer and Aussie Rules Football

American football is good if you like

start - stop games,

Games that say they last an hour but in reality last four,

like to see grown men cover themself in plastic shin, ankle, neck, shoulder and head protectors,

like to see grown men slap each other on the ass whilst yelling "woooahhhaaaa" or equivalent yank terminology,

dont like to see any skill involved in any sport (running into someone is not a skill - I dont ike rugby either)

Like to here the terminology "making a play" or "time out"

watching referees review replays over to make a decision

Listening to a referee during a game for anything up to five minutes whilst he explains his decision

Watching people get shot (L.A./ Oakland Raiders hardcores) instead of having a good old scrap

Like to not be able to name everyone in the team as its so big

Have "athleats" named "the refridgerator"

Watch Black men run down the line whilst white men through them a ball ( not racist, pure observation - name a well known black quarter back or a white running back)

Watch Cheerleaders prance around like idiots when half of them look like shit and the other half you just know have been gangbanged by the entire squad

Watch the quarter back recieve "Radio" communications from the "Coach" (what a shit name for a manager) Telling him what to do

Like to see guys with black lines under their eyes for no reason

Like to watch it in stadiums that convay ZZERO atmosphere due to the crowd being a million miles away from the grass

Like to watch stupid teams called things like "The Panthers, The Titans, The Dolphins (I am loosely a Dolphins and Seahawks "fan")

Have Fans that are more in shape than some of the players

Have a "World/Super Bowl" which only includes yourself and then declare yourself the champion (my personal favourite)

Have guys that win said "Bowl" and then parade them around wearing oversized "Bling" on their fingers, then forget about them 10 years later

Have "teams" that can move around the country (LA RAMS ----> St Louis) etc etc etc

Have Franchises owned by people more in it for the money since the whole thing is viewed as a "bigger Badder" version of WWF (Entertainment wise not pre determined result wise)

Have Owners that once they have won the "Bowl" (I mean why not call it a "Whatever" Cup like the rest of the world) drop interest in the team and then move into other ares where they can capitolise upon (See Manchester United Owners) "Sir you cant fire Mr Davies hes worked for the us for 22 years" Head Honcho - "Hes worked for me for five minutes - fire him" type attitude

Export the Franchise to Europe in a pretend league thats full of second rate shitbags, then proceed to wonder why the idea never caught on

Have Germany play Holland or Scotland or England on a yearly and sometimes monthly basis (Yanks just dont get it)

Have ridiculous "Play" terms like "A hail mary"

Have plays = ZERO SPONTINAITY

Retract franchises because they dont generate enough money - See claymores and monarchs

I'll probably add more to this later

usually you can't see what's going on with all the graphics.

that's another thing i hate about american sports - or at least the coverage of them - is the sheer anality of the statistics. football (i.e. soccer) commentators give out silly stats but usually in passing and not plastered across the screen. oh, and brit football commentators are all supersitituous as fuck too, like the players with their lucky t-shirts and lucky underpants etc

I don't give two shits about american football, but I happened to notice this bit of your post and thought I'd respond. I do agree on many of the other points.

Football can be fun to play, but I don't have the time to waste by investing any part of my life in caring about it. Some guy had a certain number of rushing yards last year? So fucking what?
