One of my co-workers is an ex US soldier and he said when they talk to Iraqi locals they say that while Saddam was a dictator at least when he was in power they had food, water, and their kids were in school being educated.
Now that the US has taken over, they don't have anything.

And anyway, the US put Saddam in power in the first place so he could protect their oil concerns by keeping the tribes in order.

Well that just it isn't it. Iraq/Afghanistan/Terrorism is the new Communism.
A phantom enemy so blow up and exaggerated that Johnny DumbAss will send his only son to die for a false ideal.
I swear to god people have a 5 year memory barrier.
