Does anyone know if there will be couch co-op that is mission-based (e.g. COD: MW2) or that is campaign-based (like Halo I guess)?

No campaign, but there is local 2 player splitscreen in an AI driven gamemode - probably a Horde mode?

There's a few different modes. horde is one of them. I forget the others as I couldn't play them in beta. The game is definitely multiplayer oriented though.

My overall impressions of this game were that it's alright but it seems a bit repetitive. I'm not sure if all the extra maps and game modes is going to remedy that problem and I'm unlikely to invest any money in finding out.
