Let me tell you why I am so dickametrically opposed to your views right now.

Given history (this would be the 'despite what the current rewriters of history have to say' history), the priorty of position and stance is all anyone with a heart and soul and ability to create can ever ask for.

Mr. Kennedy faced a world more torn apart and dynamic than we do right now. He placed in the suddenly tender hands of the world, it is my view, the smallest evidence of grace and humility. That was it! There was nothing more human an aspect in what he'd tripped over than a pile of dog shit, and it changed the direction in which the world revolves. It will happen, I just can't be sure (since my motherfucking crystal ball--CostCo return pending--is broken) when, and when it does, by god, the fucking doomsday-esque ruin that has been cast upon us by apparent recklessness and self-absorption, will be reversed as well.

Thos 'left and right' voting records don't mean much...what denotes a 'left' or 'right' vote is sometimes sketchy anyhow. McCain voted with Bush 95% of the time...does that make him 95% idiot?

By "most left" he means "slightly right of centre".

I'd argue that a senator's voting record is FAR from being an accurate political indicator. There are so many riders attached to any given piece of legislation that what they ACTUALLY voted against in the BODY ARMOR AND APPLE PIE FOR THE TROOPS bill was a rider that mandated kitten stomping or somesuch.

That's the root of the entire problem with "progress" in your country. I fully realize that to debate and pass each individual law "could be" slower with less "progress"....but ffs at least you guys would be going forward with your eyes open. And we all know what kind of "debate" goes on in Congress...just look at the latest shutdown for a gauge of the mental approach to government.

Riders should be abolished. Laws should be debated on their merits since they influence people's lives, not clumped together like popcorn and passed or failed en masse. The reason why was driven home sharply in a fucking Simpson's episode.
