Mario DS is Mario 64.
Ridge Racer PSP is a mixture of
all the games.
Mercury beats any DS game i have played
Luminies is fantastic and beat any DS game i have played
Wipeout Pure is brilliant and beats any DS game i have played
are we seeing a patern here?
Everything on the PSP is a fucking remake of older games..
Mercury and Luminies are the 2 games that truly arnt remakes or spinoffs..
im not saying the DS is OMGOMGWTF better, but still.. the PSP is just a fucking portable half ass ps2 with shit battery life..

edit: also any game utilizing touch screen functionality would...er...not work out.
I know emulation causes a performance hit, so I wasn't sure if the PSP could handle it. The split screen function could be ported to PSP though, by splitting the screen lengthwise and resizing each window if the pixels don't fit.

true but youre forgetting that its a touchscreen
how would you change weapons in Metroid Prime Hunters for example?

Wooooooooooooooow... How things change here. You still can't have your own oppinion on things...
I like the look of PSPs and particularly Wipeout pure, I'll be having a look to see what games are out and if a decent footy game comes out for it I'll be buying one for certain... I'd not touch a DS just like I've avoided all Nintendo's since the N64.
That said, I think Ridge Racer is fucking crap too.

Then you really have missed some of the most classic games you can buy.
Metroid prime/echos, re4, rebirth, zeldas...
Wow... I couldn't NOT play these games...

A drum student of mine today said 'have a look at this!' and he got out his new PSP. I have to say, the case alone looks fucking gorgeous! The graphics are amazing. I said how long do the batteries last, about 2 hours? He said, much longer, about 4. He showed me ridge racer, and I was stunned. I said is it better than the nintendo, he said WAY better. I guess he's talking about graphics. Then I went to my next student and I told him about it and he said he has the DS, so I asked him to show me so I could compare. Sure enough, it looks tacky by comparison, even though it has the touch screen gimmick and he was able to pull marios face around. But he did say that nintendo would have more games. I guess because they're concentrating less on graphics since that takes time to put together.
One thing sony could have done IMO is what nintendo did by dual screening when it opens up, albeit the one sony screen is larger. If you could open up the sony like the DS and there's 2 screens making one large one, it would truly own. I still think it owns though from what I've seen. I'd buy one but I'm happy with my ipod for portable gadgets and haven't been playing games recently.

Aye, both are not 100% perfect. But at least the DS is fun.

No, the DS is a letdown because Nintendo have broken their trend of keeping backwards compatability, have produced an underpowered machine for the size, a VERY poor release line up, and a machine that feels like tat. It's heavy, has expanses of blank, dull silver plastic where screen should be.
That's about it for my complaints. The PSP is double the cash and it's not even on my radar, but the DS is a letdown, with or without needing to compare to the PSP, which is what EVERY MOTHERFUCKER is doing, and noone seemes to be coming at it from the 'even as a standalone, the DS is a letdown' angle.

What the fuck? Some jap imports..... HOLY SHIT THAT HAS REAL BEARING ON THE PRODUCT WHICH I'M TALKING ABOUT!
Even more absurd, I wasn't complaining about the colour, I was complaining about the overall tackiness of the shitty silver plastic. It's still crappy feeling plastic and it's still massive bare expanses of the crap, regardless of the colour. that's only one small part of the overall aethetic, which fucking sucks.
The SP oozes class, I don't understand how they could design a piece of shit like that straight after the SP.

You've only addressed a mere 1 of my complaints, and you didn't even do it properly. It's still crappy feeling plastic and it's still massive bare expanses of the crap.
but for approx. $60 USD less than a PSP, you get
POKEPARK PURPLE

I'm gonna get one pretty soon I'n sure, but all the picures and TV promos and previews I saw, I thought it was bigger than what it was.
I guess being 6'3" I should be used to this by now. I was the only person I know who like the original Xbox controller cause it fit my hands just fine.

Plays any game from any country, and is Nintendo Licensed.. Same shit, different color..
Tho, there is a bit much plastic all around, which i guess i agree with.. couldnt they of put a little bit bigger screens in it?

Um, SOAPboy, PSP games aren't region specific either...
Personally, I think the DS owns.
I'm not going to state an opinion on graphics or system looks, I just know that the games I have are damn good fun.
I also think too many people here are obsessed with HAVING to compare the 2 in some ultra-stupid modern update of the "SNES vs. Genesis / Quake vs. Unreal / Mario vs. Sonic" wars of old.
I've not seen a PSP yet, but I'm sure it's a great system, doing something completely different to the DS...
