Come off it Legion, you know perfectly well that there's plenty of games the PS2 can't handle. The only real benefit is you get to play extremely tedious Japanese RPGs which are completely linear and involve incessant backtracking, and are about grooming a child.
Ah, talking bollocks again, i see?

Please. Play SC:CT. Play it on both xbox and PS2. The PS2 version is TOTALLY redone, the levels are TOTALLY remade, and everything lacks any sort of "nice" visuals.

if i was going to buy a console for graphics i wouldnt of bothered

saying ps2 has 10 games to gamecubes 1 and that 1 of those ps2 games is the only good one out of those 10 BAH

please dude, that means ps2 has 100 games to GC's 10 and the law of averages say ima gunna liek a lot more of those 10 games which are 'the only good games'

**i think this post was meant to go in the other thread but you get wha i mean :) **

Either way, please, thin kabout things. Most of "those games" that you will like are gonna be on xbox, or there is somethign like it on xbox thats better anyways.

the cube is great because it has lots of "exclusive" titles. You just cant beat metroid. And for the price you pay its retardly cheap.

The xbox is £5 cheaper than the PS2. You dont need to buy a memory card, it has most of the games PS2 does but better, more features and better looking, plus its online kicks the shit out of any other console.

Honestly, all the ps2 has going for it is Metal gear 3 which is out fr xbox soon, and GT4, which, imho, there are a LOT better games than that anyways. Oh, and Final Fantasy, which has never REALLY been that good since the Ps1 days anyways.

So, whats the issue here, lol.

righty

imo

Xbox > ps2 > GC

Xbox just dominates because of the reasons you said basically

ps2 for the titles like GTA SA, GT4 and some other bollocks i cant think of... tbh the only reason i got it is because of when GTA3 1st come out for it and i cant be arsed to wait for titles to get onto the Xbox

GC was crushed on release basically, i have no idea why but its probaly because the lack of titles. yes its got lots of exclusive polished up shite but the only reason i can think i would want one is for resident evil

its like having a bag of haribo, gamecube give you 10 things and you like 5 of them

xbox or ps2 give you 50 and you like 25 of them :)

I can agree with you there, but imho xbox > gc > ps2.

For me, at least, there isn't anything really great about the PS2. Its old, slow, ugly and plays only a couple of games that i keep it for. All the games you suggested bar GT4 will be on xbox, but better. GTA:SA is on xbox with better visuals, etc etc.

I have the cube, because im a ninty fanboy. I love mario, zelda, metroid.

And you say "not many games" but i own all 3 consoles, and the DS.

I have about 20 games for my xbox, and about 15 each for my ps2 and cube. Out of those PS2 titles, i never play ANY of them, and most i keep just because i dont want to part with them (FF, metal gear etc). Out of the cube games, pretty much all of them i play all the time. (With the exception of mario sunshine, which is just not good. at all.) And out of the xbox ones, i play for online, or because its a great SP game.

So, for me at least, there just isn't anything the ps2 offers anymore. Like you, i also brought my ps2 for the likes of gta and metal gear 2, but those are on xbox, and better, so why bother any more? Plus, i cant use the ps2 pad for shit. Maybe for platform games, but for FPS games its the xbox pad all the way.

in this case it falls down to personel taste :)

but yea the only reason i would own a gamecube is because of those games which dont interest me all that much, which again is personel taste... if i had a gamecube it would have a thicker layer of dust on it than my ps2... i guess i aint in to consoles anymore tho

Eh, dont blame the PS2 for your shit hands...

Damn, you're missing out - there's far more than 15 decent PS2 titles out there. Then again, there's more than 20 decent Xbox ones... You need to start searching around - its about the gameplay man, get over the prejudice!

I'm not either, compared to how i used to be at least. I used to live for my snes, and heck even my n64. beating those old games like that rocked, made my day. I used to get up for 6am every morning so i could have a few hours on donkey kong country before school, heh.

These days, games are over in 5mins and never touched again. People just dont put enough effort into things for replaying.

Take doom 3, a touchy subject i know but listen.

Why not "reward" the player? Put secrets in the game that you really need to work for, to unlock things. No console god as such, but unlock these things. Unlock concept art, heck, why not even unlock mini games like "kill as many zombies as you can in 30 seconds" and "stay alive as long as possible". Silly things like that. Look at goldeneye, it was split up into missions and you had to beat the mission is certain ways to unlock certain things.

I'm not saying it NEEDED those, but i know for a fact i wouldn't of stopped playing it after 2 days and shelved it since then, because there are things to go back to.

Waaaaaaay to many game devs these days just want ot get a "game" out the door and nothing else. Its a pitty. Even including things like concept art is a boonus.

I guess thats why games these days dont grab you as much. Like, DCK used to make you beat the game, but also beat it 100% collecting everything... What does that these days :(

Who said its anything to do with graphics? People here always say i'm all about the graphics. I just said i would rather play a snes game than a ps2 game, is THAT about the graphics?

Nothing on Ps2 pulls me in, and yes, the pad doesn't help.

What exactly does presented mean? Will we get any pictures of it? Will we get the specs? Will we see any gameplay or a demo of some sort?

Aye, they should do the usual. talk about a lot of fancy numbers, show off a concept model machine (Which will look better than the final machine) and show some fantastic amazing movies of games which look stunning, only to be dumbed down a lot for final release.

Its always the way.

indeed.
they will show a few games, have a presentation about how cool [this and this feature] is, and let some people playtest

heh i remember when i was at the xbox pre-presentation. this dude was talking about how powerful this machine was etc.. so this guy in the audience asks "so why is the controller so fucking massive?", and the dude says "yea, thats good isnt it? when you pickup the ciontroller, you'll feel The Power! bigger is better!!!"

i lolled

I still use my original controller, and i have a control-S.

I love the original. Its big, bulky, and never hurts my hands.

Xbox, its not for girls.

Aye, the missus uses the S one too. Easier for her. I doubt she can even lift the original, heh...

It is a big fuck off thing :p

Which leads me to the next thing. I Hope to fuck they do some realyl cool, small design for the new xbox.

A few mainstream mid-level celebrities will pimp NBA Live! 2006 and some GTA clone shooter in the launch lineup, by playing for a few minutes in the TRL studio in front of a screaming crowd of 14-yearolds. Then they'll go on showing how you can download music videos from MTV via Live and buy bling bling upgrades for your online profile page. It's doubtful that we'll even get to see the actual machine, yet alone hear anything about any technical specs.

The original Xbox controller is great for us folks with big hands who tend to go a bit carpal.
