Yes, yes you could. From my somewhat limited experience with Paralells at least; it's pretty decent at reading external devices and everything works like a champ inside the parallels window.

Being able to boot XP without a reboot for the small stuff and only needing a simple reboot for Windows-only games has really taken the wind out of the sails of any argument I can think of as to why I would want to not own a Mac. Getting a cheap, cut-rate computer that can boot XP but not OS X sounds like such a stupid plan.

Couldn't you just use something like Missing Sync?

someone at work runs it and swears by it. i stick to bootcamp though.

it didn't work on my powerbook and I heard stories about it being buggy as hell

There's a new freeware program called SyncMate...but that's still beta and not working yet either.
