If I had been laughing while I read the details of the story that would be one thing. But laughing at the mental image a headline gave me is proof of nothing more than an editor who doesn't put enough thought into his job.

If whoever wrote that story had cared about the dying woman to begin with, it would have focused on the dying woman, and not on an intentionally comic comment made by some man who happened to be pissing on her.

Of course I genuinely felt empathy and some shame in humanity when I read the full article.

Well you could call it both ways. I'm pretty certain that some of our editors simply don't know better when it comes to stuff like this.

They put it online with headlines like that, simply thinking the youtube reference will get them more readers, but never imagining that some people might find it funny worded that way. They would never find it funny themselves, and they barely use the internet (some barely know how to), so they would be disgusted at the thought that someone might get a chuckle. Something like 4chan would probably wreck their entire worldview (and not without reason lol).

And we're not a small publication either.

I laughed at the headline, but reading the story properly just reinstates what a fucking disaster England is now. I do feel bad for the family of the woman, because if that was my mother, i'd kill the ugly chav bastard.

TBH I was more sickened by the new info on the diana crash where apparently she was alive and saying 'oh god oh god' and people were stood around taking pictures.

Those guys should be killed in a most horrible, painful manner.
