It wasn't free, and "nobody" would've pre-ordered it if the TF2 beta had not been advertised as part of the deal. Why do you think Valve is offering this "beta" that's going to last a couple of weeks, moron?

You paid for the games. You are getting beta as a bonus.
Why do people preorder games that don't include betas, moron?

Here is a big TF2 delay update. It seems Valve is having with Linux server code, so they are working overtime trying to fix it. However the Windows server is done and released.
"Update: Speaking in a Shacknews group chat room on The Steam Community, Valve employee Erik Johnson has told the Shacknews the maddeningly unreleased Team Fortress 2 beta is almost here. Valve is having difficulties with the dedicated Linux server software, causing a delay.
Currently, the Windows server software is available through the HLDS Update tool available on the Steam website, but the Linux software is not ready. If the company cannot get the Linux server up within "the next hour or two," it will simply release the game for play on Windows servers only.
"We're really close, just a few issues with the Linux server. We just released the Win32 server, so if people are running those, they can get started." said Johnson. ErikJ: If we don't make it with linux in the next hour or two, we'll just fire away with what we have and get linux out as soon as we can."
It seems like the Penguin is holding up the TF2 beta.

And now Team Fortress 2 itself is preloading again, why again I already have it.
Its been at 0% for 10 minutes, maybe this is it?

Update 4: Users attempting to launch the ostensibly released Team Fortress 2 beta, including Shacnknews editors, are finding the game client refusing to launch. Attempting to launch the game simply returns a Steam dialogue box reading, "Preparing to launch Team Fortress 2..."
More Valve vaporware.

Now there is an update that includes the launch cfg files.
They should publish a book on 101 things not to do on a game launch day.

By the way, WOW cool game!

I am really, really impressed. The polish of the design really shines through. Time will tell if it's worth being picked up by any leagues, but they really did a great job of taking a complicated game, and with amazing style, turn it into something that could be picked up and understood by a wider audience than the original. I am excited to have this to play over the next few days. Well, when I am not farming gold/consumables, and killing internet dragons with 24 friends on the intarweb.

From Ben Grodsky, Media Defender
Dylan,
I wouldn’t normally e-mail you directly about MiiVi stuff, because a lot of what I say about this is total crap (so keep that in mind) and Jay filters the crap from the important stuff for you. Is there a way to add this hash/title to the porn filter explicitly?
hash=30755326A4E4AC457678BFF8CB2AF5FC4A4FBF710&i=3 (the title is Celebrity deathmatch: Korn vs slipknot and the exact URL is
http://129.32.5.160/zonie/media.php?hash=30755326A)
I just flagged it as Other Terms of Use violation. It’s a warthog (or maybe it’s a big bushy dog, I can’t tell) having sex with a woman and NOT a Korn vs. Slipknot mash-up video.
If this is a big deal, don’t worry about it for now.
