Is there any way to make a protein shake more drinkable? This one bucket I got on a reccomendation dissolves as much as sand in water does, and it feels like drinking just that. Plus it tastes like shit, but I haven't seen any protein flavourizers in stores hereabouts.
(edit) would mixing it with hot water help it dissolve?

FInding a good powder that mixes well without a blender is a challenge. WHen I was really into all that, I spent about 2 months searching for a good one and finally found it - a brand called Max Muscle. Don't know if they are even still around.
I would take a shaker (plastic cup with a lid) everywhere with me, along with 2-3 plastic ziploc bags with powder in them. WHen I was teaching at the university, I would shoot over to the cafeteria, buy 2 small chocolate milks, and mix them along with the powder, and some glutamine, into the shaker and mix it up.
Worked well for mass gain...but I didn't care about fat at the time.

Yep, it's a weight gain formula. I havn't noticed any signifigant weight gains in the past month however, maybe 3lbs, and none of it is fat.sys0p wrote:I bet at least 50g of those carbs in that shake come from Maltodextrin. Check the ingedients, and if so, stop drinking it. It's garbage and it'll make you fat
Any reccomendations on other brands i should research as far as building mass goes?
Edit: i thought maltodextrin was a very good polysaccharide to use for post workouts? since it's easlity digestible. Would a powder with dextrose be better?
Yeah, blend up some regular oats with your protein shake. Put in 100g, and you get 60-70g of decent carbs, and 10g of fibre. With the milk and protein, your shake should be around 650 carlories.
All of the mass gain drinks you can get are just a con, there's nothing good about any of them, they just make you fat and load you up with shitty carbs and sweeteners. There's probably an exception, but I bet it costs 50x the price of a bag of oats.

RE ^misantropia^ Honey, corn syrup and other sweeteners are also potentially extremely dangerous for infants…
That is true and that is really serious matter and we all know that our parents used it sometimes for cold relief but they didn’t know at the time the effect that could have caused.
RE ToxicBug So a grapefruit in the morning and a protein shake in the evening is a good choice?
This again could be hazard especially for elderly people, I read about it years ago, I can’t recall the effect, just remember you can’t abuse it. Precision... The grapefruit not the shake.

Abuse grapefruit? I think you are confused pete.
Grapefruit isn't hazardous for elderly people, unless they are taking one a number of specific medications. Grapefruit juice can inhibit a certain cytochrome p450 enzyme that metabolizes a variety of medications. Some cholesterol medications, for example, require that the user avoid grapefruit juice.
Thanks for the precision tnf.tnf wrote:pete wrote:RE ^misantropia^ Honey, corn syrup and other sweeteners are also potentially extremely dangerous for infants…

That's it I think...Some medication don't mix with grapefruit.
My grand mother eat them every morning, so is my Mom.
My grand mother had a type of a calendar with all of her pills in it, like 12 a day. I read that she wasn't supposed to eat grapefruit everyday because of the pills she was taken.
