If I were normal, which I'm not, when I go to work in the morning I'd carry my ipod and a cell phone. I actually take the ipod, 10 pounds of camera stuff and leave the phone at home, so I don't really count.werldhed wrote:I don't carry any of those when I go out.Dave wrote:It started when people decided they didn't want to carry a music player, camera and a phone when they go out...booker wrote:whatever happen to having a cellphone to just take and get calls on?
I know. But you don't have to be a moron to lock one in your truck in your driveway.+JuggerNaut+ wrote:but my main point is that you have to be a moron to get one of these stolen from you unless you're mugged. plain and simple.R00k wrote:Sure there is - people don't go out of their way to steal your car keys.+JuggerNaut+ wrote: no more of a risk than leaving your car keys at parties.
My buddy had his iPod stolen out of his truck a few weeks after he got it, right out in front of the house. I assume somebody had seen him leave it in there a lot, because nothing else was taken and it was out of sight.
There was a flurry of iPod thefts after they came out, because they were in such high demand. I'm sure the phones will be just as popular, and opportunistic crooks will take full advantage of it.

It's just another PDA-phone, with all the same drawbacks, ie looking retarded while holding it up to your face, not fitting into any pocket, irritating UI
If I wanted that I could have gotten uglier (and apparently more powerful) versions of it long ago.
For what it is, maybe. But all those Treo's and stuff are just as small, and they're way too big for me.+JuggerNaut+ wrote:i'm sorry? how is that going to look retarded holding it up to your face? looks pretty small for what it is, to me.
Touchscreens are irritating period. They're much slower to use than real buttons.irritating UI? are you kidding me?
Ummm, 3G?uh, it's got a slimmed down version of OS X on there, i'm sure it will be as powerful as any windows mobile phone currently on the market.

what does the speed of telphony data protocols have to do with the speed of an OS? that's right, zero.
from the video, it doesn't seem so. dunno about you, but i don't a qwerty keyboard with keys the size of pinheads on my phone.

"powerful" can mean a lot of things, and I consider a phone without 3G not POWERFUL.what does the speed of telphony data protocols have to do with the speed of an OS? that's right, zero.
well said.Grudge wrote:You are obviously not the target group for the iPhone. You want a small, regular phone to make phonecalls with, fine, go buy a regular Nokia or a SonyEricsson or whatever.
The iPhone is something else. It's a convergence device with a touch interface, it's not a standard mobile phone, so don't compare it to one.
Oh, and until you have tried the actual touch interface just STFU about how bad it is. You have no idea.
And it has EDGE, which enables fast data rate, the only thing you really need 3G for is to make video calls, and we all know how often you do that.
Sorry for insulting your convergence device, you obviously have a lot of experience with it and with touchscreens, so you are completely right in telling me to shut up about them. After all Mr. Jobs must have put an awful lot of Innovation Power into this phone with it's awesome new features like text messaging and Starbuck prank calls and no 3G and non-exchangable batteries (which is good because that wasn't a problem with the iPod at all) and I was killing innovation by phantasizing about how touch screens weren't so useful in the past.Grudge wrote:You are obviously not the target group for the iPhone.
