The only big city I've ever been in was Boston and I definately soooooooooooo looked like a tourist while I was there. Those fucking buildings were huge!

Lived in Chicago and Detroit. And I infintely prefer college towns...well appointed of course, but sufficiently far away from a metro area that I don't have to live, breath, and think it unless I want to.

cities, for having anonymity when you want it and plenty of stuff to do.

moved back to the town i was born in a couple of years back and it does my head in - so many people that never moved on. i bumped into an old school bully and all i could think to say to him was 'yeah, i will have fries with that'

well, first mistake is calling boston a big city, i lived there for 8 years. second, boston has some of the worst traffic in history. because of the big dig roadways shut down, are switched directions, or are only open certain hours thus making you take some stupid assfuck detour down by the design center and the south end. it's nuts. i messengered there for a few years and there were evenings after work i would go to the bar and then try to ride down the streets i had been riding down all day only to find they're torn up or running in the opposite direction.

boston is essentially a large college town. what makes the traffic even worse is the people living on both shores driving to work in an already congested city street layout, no grid. the t does the job but doesn't run very late. it's also quite expensive to live there.

edit: i forgot to address the fuckwits that don't pay attention...um, that was probably just the tourists.
Being it's in the top 20 biggiest US cities http://www.city-data.com/top1.html , I'd say it's a big enough city. Though I'm surprised that Philly is bigger -- having gone there numerous times, it doesn't 'seem' bigger than Boston.

The whole state of MA has some of the worst fucking drivers I've ever seen, including my ex, who I'm convinced couldn't navigate a fucking tractor through a field, much less drive her banged up Miata for more than 2 months without smacking it into something.
