After seeing that video all I can say is ...yes, people have got to get ready. Everyone should be trained to use a weapon.
I'm sure scenes like that are played out all over the world, albeit with smaller weapons and usually against the goverments wishes.
Citing US gun violence is pointless unless you compare it to all countries where you will find comparable numbers of gun deaths, and you have to include countries with unrest and civil wars because almost every single gun death in north america is due to drugs which is a war on our streets.
