Exactly. Don't forget the first rule of marketing: It's not convincing people they want your product...it's convincing people they NEED your product.MKJ wrote:dunno. why would anyone want to be able to watch movies and pictures on their mobile?GONNAFISTYA wrote:Who the fuck wants to watch videos on a 2.5 inch screen? i don't think apple is gearing this towards the movie segment though, only music videos and video podcasts. therefore, it doesn't need a 16:9 display. bigger? sure, that'd be nice, but you're getting this feature FREE compared to last year's offering at the same price while being smaller AND more storage.GONNAFISTYA wrote:If you're going to market a portable video device I'd think a practical sized display would be something akin to the PSP's screen. Anything smaller is an eyestrain and a waste of time...yes...including video phones...which already have a bigger screen than the new iPod.
Episodes of family guy on one of those would be pretty sweet.
However iPods have always been kinda subtle in they remain in your pocket, and the headphones are the indicater that you have one.
..sitting on a bus/train with it in your greasy hands, staring blankly at the tiny front screen, occasionally reacting to what you're seeing... that's kinda gonna be odd to see.

The whole front side of the ipod should be a color touch screen, that way you won't have to strain your eyes while attempting to watch videos.

I still find it amazing that people are getting excited about watching music videos on a screen the size of Kracus' brain.

And how many of those Sony memory sticks would you need to total 60GB? 30?(2GB) At $120 each? (Cheapest I can see)Eraser wrote:$400 for an mp3 player? riiiiight
okay so it plays video, but at what screen size? Better to get a PSP for half that money
That's $3,600 in storage, plus the $200 for the PSP, totaling $3,800. The iPod can still be used as a backup hard drive, can store files larger than 2GB, and is a hell of a lot easier than carrying around 30 memory sticks...

it's unfortunate that RIO has left the mp3 market...i still recommend the carbon. i took back my 5 and got the 6gb model recently and it brings heat. paired with some sony earbuds the sound quality is what you'd come to expect from a player that's at the top of all players. subjective? no..i speak fact.

get one while they're available and thank me later. i should be paid for all the RIO suggestions i give.

Uh, so it objectively sounds better?seza wrote:it's unfortunate that RIO has left the mp3 market...i still recommend the carbon. i took back my 5 and got the 6gb model recently and it brings heat. paired with some sony earbuds the sound quality is what you'd come to expect from a player that's at the top of all players. subjective? no..i speak fact.
p.s. sony earbuds are overpriced. You can get a much better set for a similar price if you're not a sucker.

iTunes 5 fucked something up with my disc burning; doesn't like making CDs out of .sd2 and .wav files. Fortunately I've got the rather nifty waveburner (comes with logic), but still a nuisance. I have suspicions....
